The Role

We are looking for a Engineering Drafter (Mechanical) to join our Design Engineering team in Malaysia. 

In this role, you will produce accurate 2D and 3D mechanical drawings to support engineering design activities in our Digitalization System Transformation, converting 3D models into standardized 2D technical documentation, managing digital CAD assets and drawing registers, and ensuring drawing accuracy, traceability, and alignment with digital engineering workflows through timely delivery of assigned project milestones.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Drawings  

• 3D Modeling: Create solid models of parts and assemblies using CAD software (SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD). 

• 2D Drafting: Generate orthographic projections (top, front, side views), sections, and detail views. 

• Dimensioning & Tolerancing: Apply precise measurements and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to ensure parts fit together correctly.  

Design & Documentation  

• Ensure alignment between CAD drawings and the Bill of Materials (BOM) to maintain proper correlation across all documentation. 

• Maintain accurate drawing register lists and track work progress in line with the project milestones. 

Quality & Compliance  

• Ensuring all drawings comply with applicable industry standards (ANSI, ISO, ASME Y14.5), the Company-specified protocols and best practice while prioritize required health and safety precautions. 

• Maintain a high level of quality, accuracy and reliability in all drawings for production and service use. 

Others  

• Assist with additional technical tasks as assigned by the Line Manager or Management.

What We’re Looking For

Experience & Knowledge

• Min 2 years of design engineering or drafting work in machinery or fabrication environments
• CAD Proficiency: SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Technical Drawings in 2D & 3D
• Deep understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing GD&T
• Mechanical engineering fundamental & knowledge: purpose of BOM geometry, trigonometry, and basic physics (material properties, forces), machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, etc.
• Industrial Engineering standards: (e.g.ANSI, ISO, ASME Y14.5) 

Qualifications

• At least diploma or certificate in Design Engineering, Drafting, Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Technical certification in CAD software or GD&T (Desirable)

• Good reasoning and ability to visualize3D objects from 2D drawings.
• Effective communication and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Strong organizational skills, proactive, and result oriented
• Able to handle stress within project timeline and maintaincomposure
• Proficient in English for business communication, documentation, and system usage
• Ability to communicate in additional local language(s) is an advantage
• Willingness to perform ad hoc task as assigned
