Job Description

The College of Arts and Sciences (CASE) occasionally has openings for part-time adjunct instructors appointed on a per semester basis. Applying for a part-time teaching appointment in Criminal Justice adds applicants to a pool which is available to the department for selection as needed for Fall 2026, Spring 2027 and/or Summer 2026. We are particularly interested in hiring adjunct faculty who work in our region and can teach face-to-face sections (usually at night) and online sections.

Minimum educational requirements for undergraduate level courses:

Master’s or Juris Doctorate degree in the teaching discipline or related field, including a minimum of 18 graduate level credit hours in the teaching discipline. Degree and coursework must be obtained from a regionally accredited institution.

Doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline, or closely related field, including a minimum of 18 graduate level credit hours in the teaching discipline. Degree and coursework must be obtained from a regionally accredited institution.

Preferred Characteristics

Career or academic experience related to specific course topic.

Lives in our service region (for face-to-face courses).

Works in a justice-aligned agency or organization.

Previous college teaching experience.

Earned doctorate in criminal justice, criminology, or related field.

Duties: Required to teach Criminal Justice course(s) in one or more of the following modalities: Face-to-face, web-enhanced, hybrid, or online. Possible courses may include law and courts related courses, law enforcement and criminal investigations, community corrections, management & leadership. . Courses may be conducted as a 5-week, 8-week, 10-week or 16-week term depending on the semester. Must coordinate course administrative duties such as, but not limited to, grading student work, loading all course content, such as assessments and lecture modules, meeting with students, submitting grades in a timely manner, meeting census and grade deadlines, and additional administrative duties as needed.

Compensation: $2,400 per undergraduate section taught with a master’s degree; $2,900 per undergraduate section taught with a Ph D.
