We’re looking for a Medical Laboratory Scientist, someone who’s ready to grow with our company. In this position, you'll perform routine and special procedures to obtain data or prepare products for the diagnosis and treatment of disease and the provision of quality patient care.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Determines suitability of specimens and orders by verifying patient information and troubleshooting erroneous or inconsistent orders
  • Organizes and prioritizes workload to meet the needs of medical staff without repetition of work
  • Performs routine and special testing procedures accurately, evaluates results, and troubleshoots abnormal findings in a timely manner
  • Responds quickly to emergency situations and STAT requests, providing services without delay
  • Assists other staff with specimen troubleshooting and workload to meet turnaround times
  • Communicates quality control issues to the appropriate supervisor and maintains accurate documentation
  • Orders supplies to maintain inventory levels and quarantines or discards unsuitable stock
  • Performs and documents quality control procedures and routine maintenance on instruments
  • Records and monitors temperatures and functions of refrigerators and freezers per protocol
  • Assists with troubleshooting instrument issues and evaluating new procedures and instruments
  • Maintains and demonstrates competency in procedures through ongoing performance and continuing education
  • Trains new employees and communicates clearly to support workflow and quality testing
  • Serves as in-charge technologist in the supervisor's absence, prioritizing workflow and documenting issues
  • Adheres to safety policies and maintains a clean work area

Skills & Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology required
  • Experience in DNA and RNA testing in Molecular Oncology, Cancer, FISH testing, Microarray testing, real-time PCR testing, Sanger sequencing, and DNA and RNA extractions preferred

  • CLSP-NCA Clinical Lab Spec, National Credentialing Agency required or
  • BB-ASCP Tech Blood Bank, American Society for Clinical Pathology required or
  • C-ASCP Tech in Chemistry, American Society for Clinical Pathology required or
  • H-ASCP Technologist of Hematology, American Society for Clinical Pathology required or
  • M-ASCP Technician Microbiology, American Society for Clinical Pathology required or
  • MB-ASCP Technician Molecular Biology, American Society for Clinical Pathology required or
  • MLS-ASCP Medical Lab Scientist, American Society for Clinical Pathology required or
  • MP-ASCP Technician Molecular Pathology, American Society for Clinical Pathology required or
  • MT-AAB Medical Technologist, American Association of Bioanalysts required or
  • MT-ASCP Medical Technologist, American Society for Clinical Pathology required or
  • IMLS International Medical Laboratory Certification, American Society for Clinical Pathology required or
  • SM-ASCP Specialist in Microbiology, American Society for Clinical Pathology required or
  • HTL-ASCP Histotechnologist, American Society for Clinical Pathology required or
  • MT-AMT Medical Technologist, American Medical Technologist required or
  • HT-ASCP Certified Histology Technician, American Society for Clinical Pathology required or
  • MT-STATE Medical Technologist, Any State required or
  • MT-NCA Medical Technologist, National Certification Agency required or
  • CT-ASCP Cytotechnologist, American Society for Clinical Pathology required
