We are searching for an Echo Sonographer Educator -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you'll provide education and administrative support for department operation under the supervision of the Department Manager and ensure effective and efficient implementation of the six key education processes at the department level and to assist in the implementation of designated centralized components of the key education processes. The six key education processes are orientation, annual competence assessment, preceptor orientation and development, required training, ongoing
development, and student affiliations.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs high-quality echocardiographic exams and collaborates with cardiology staff to diagnose complex congenital and acquired pediatric heart abnormalities
- Performs and analyzes three-dimensional echocardiographic reconstructions and strain studies
- Manages workflow through effective communication with imaging teams, nursing staff, providers, and other impacted parties
- Performs procedures independently, identifies and resolves technical issues, and shares knowledge with colleagues
- Recognizes signs and symptoms of an emergency and initiates appropriate emergency procedures
- Conducts equipment quality control activities, reports equipment issues, and collaborates with appropriate teams to resolve image quality concerns
- Assists employees with troubleshooting exam problems, correcting errors, and managing workloads to meet established turnaround times
- Designs, implements, evaluates, and individualizes cost-effective departmental orientation pathways based on staff learning needs
- Creates orientation schedules, communicates scheduling information, monitors progress, and addresses problematic trends
- Develops and supports preceptors, assesses their learning needs, and provides coaching for challenging orientation situations
- Identifies performance gaps and develops training based on policies, performance data, and applicable accreditation and regulatory standards
- Evaluates and reports training outcomes, tracks attendance and compliance, and identifies noncompliant staff
- Oversees education and competency validation for staff performing high-level disinfection processes
- Assesses staff development needs, implements cost-effective learning activities, and provides individualized performance feedback
- Coordinates positive clinical experiences and unit orientation for students and faculty
- Participates in quality assurance and quality control activities while maintaining compliance with applicable policies, standards, guidelines, and regulations
- Supports unit operations by updating schedules, participating in candidate interviews, communicating departmental information, and assuming on-call responsibilities as needed
Skills & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma from an ultrasound or diagnostic medical sonography program required
- Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association required
- Certified Registered Cardiac Sonographer through Cardiovascular Credentialing International, Certified Canadian Registered Cardiac Sonographer through Sonography Canada, or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer in Pediatric Echocardiography through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography required
- Five years of experience as an echocardiography sonographer in a pediatric environment required
- Experience performing and analyzing three-dimensional echocardiography and strain studies required
- Knowledge of quality assurance, equipment quality control, infection prevention, and applicable accreditation and regulatory standards required
- Experience providing staff orientation, training, competency validation, coaching, and professional development required
