Solution Architect, Hardware & Software Security - Aix-en-Provence
Aix-en-Provence area, France · Permanent · Hybrid
Own a security architecture that has to hold from the silicon all the way to the cloud, and still stand up years from now when quantum computers can break today's cryptography.
What you'd actually work on
- Defining the end-to-end architecture of secure hardware products, from the chip and its firmware up to the applications and the cloud platform that manages devices in the field
- Turning customer requests and market needs into clear technical specifications that silicon, firmware and software teams can actually build from, without losing the security intent along the way
- Setting the product requirements around performance, security hardening and integration constraints, and defending them when deadlines or customer pressure push the other way
- Keeping silicon design, firmware development and system integration moving in the same direction, so the pieces fit together at delivery instead of at the last minute
- Owning the long-term technical roadmap and making the hard calls between adopting new cryptography early and keeping the platform stable for customers who have already deployed it
- Working with sales and product leadership on RFPs and early-stage opportunities, judging what is feasible and defining the security scope before anything is promised
- Guiding the engineering team day to day by managing the backlog, setting priorities and unblocking technical decisions
Where it gets technically interesting
- Post-quantum cryptography moving from standards documents into real products: implementing the new NIST algorithms (ML-KEM, ML-DSA) on resource-constrained hardware, where memory, speed and power budgets are tight
- Root-of-trust design covering secure boot, device attestation and key storage in silicon, where one weak link in the chain undermines everything built on top of it
- Defending against side-channel attacks, where code that is perfectly correct can still leak keys through timing or power consumption
- PKI and secure provisioning at scale: managing certificates and keys across the whole device lifecycle, from manufacturing through deployment to revocation
- Bridging two very different worlds, bare-metal and RTOS code on one side and distributed cloud services on the other, and making sure they trust each other
- Building products that must pass demanding international security certifications (such as Common Criteria or FIPS 140-3), which shape architecture choices from day one
What we're looking for
- 10+ years of hands-on technical experience in secure systems, with a track record of delivering real products
- Strong C/C++ development skills for constrained environments: bare-metal, RTOS, embedded Linux or secure operating systems
- Deep knowledge of hardware security principles: secure boot, attestation, key lifecycle management and side-channel countermeasures
- Solid understanding of PKI, certificate management and secure device provisioning, and a good grasp of the emerging post-quantum standards
- Proven ability to connect high-level system requirements to low-level hardware and software implementation, and to explain trade-offs clearly to engineers, product and business teams alike
- Master's degree in engineering or a related field
- Fluent in both French and English, as you will work with French engineering teams and international customers
- Bonus: experience with security certification processes (Common Criteria, FIPS, or similar) is a strong plus
