The Manager, Estimating is responsible for leading the estimating team and overseeing the preparation of accurate, competitive, and commercially sound bids across civil construction, mining, forestry, infrastructure, and industrial projects. This role drives bid strategy, cost estimating, risk assessment, and pre-construction planning to support profitable growth and successful project delivery. Working closely with operations, project management, procurement, and executive leadership, the Manager, Estimating establishes estimating standards, mentors team members, and promotes continuous improvement to ensure high-quality, consistent estimating practices that align with organizational objectives.
Location & Travel: This role is primarily remote with occasional travel ideally to West Kelowna and project sites. Experience working in remote project environments and a strong understanding of equipment, materials, and construction cost drivers are assets.

Compensation & Schedule
$120,000 - $160,000 per year (negotiable) plus bonus
Compensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and overall alignment with the requirements of the role.
Allowances: Eligible for cellphone allowance
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop the estimating team while ensuring the delivery of accurate, competitive, and timely bid submissions.
- Oversee the preparation and review of estimates for heavy civil, mining, forestry, infrastructure, environmental, industrial, and resource-sector projects.
- Review drawings, specifications, contract documents, schedules, and technical reports to develop comprehensive project cost estimates.
- Lead bid strategy, pricing reviews, risk assessments, value engineering initiatives, and go/no-go decision-making processes.
- Identify project risks, opportunities, constructability considerations, and commercial impacts while recommending mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate subcontractor and supplier pricing, evaluate proposals, and support procurement and execution planning.
- Collaborate with operations, project management, engineering, procurement, and executive leadership teams throughout the bid and project lifecycle.
- Participate in client meetings, tender reviews, pre-bid discussions, and project handovers to support successful project execution.
- Drive continuous improvement through estimating standards, historical cost tracking, productivity benchmarking, and process optimization.
- Support business growth by providing strategic guidance on pursuit opportunities, market intelligence, resource planning, and commercial decision-making.
Qualifications
- Diploma, degree, or equivalent experience in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, Quantity Surveying, Business, or a related field.
- 8+ years of progressive estimating experience and 3+ years of leadership experience within construction, mining, forestry, industrial, infrastructure, or related industries.
- Proven experience preparing, reviewing, and managing large, complex bids, estimates, and tender submissions.
- Strong knowledge of cost estimating, bid strategy, risk assessment, value engineering, construction methods, productivity rates, and project execution practices.
- Strong commercial, analytical, financial, and decision-making skills, with the ability to interpret drawings, specifications, contracts, and technical documentation.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating software; experience with HeavyBid, B2W, InEight, Bid2Win, HCSS, scheduling software, and proposal development is considered an asset.
