Thomson Reuters is a Canadian information company created in 2008 when the Thomson Corporation acquired the British news and data group Reuters, and it now sells research, workflow software and analytics rather than raw information. Its largest businesses serve law firms and corporate counsel through Westlaw and Practical Law, tax and accounting professionals through Checkpoint and ONESOURCE, and corporate risk and compliance teams through screening and investigation products, alongside the Reuters news agency. Headquartered in Toronto and listed in Toronto and New York, it has invested heavily in generative assistants embedded directly in those professional workflows.

  • Advance AI model adaptation and customization for specialized domains, driving innovation in expert systems for legal, tax, fraud and compliance
  • Define the technical standards and best practices for AI system architecture across the organization
  • Work with AI researchers, senior engineering leadership, design and product teams to turn AI capabilities into market-leading applications
  • Shape product strategy using deep technical expertise and strong market instincts
  • Lead the evaluation and adoption of cutting-edge AI techniques to solve the business's toughest problems
  • Take proof-of-concept projects from first idea to clear results, and guide technical feasibility assessments for new AI-driven features
  • Keep up with AI research and emerging technologies, and turn new insights into actionable technical roadmaps
  • Drive high-impact innovation initiatives and establish the organization's position in emerging AI technology areas
  • Mentor and motivate senior and junior software engineers, supporting their technical growth and career development
  • Act as a senior thought leader by leading technical discussions in executive forums and representing Thomson Reuters at industry conferences and events

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 4 years in senior or lead roles focused on AI/ML
  • Experience with Generative AI, RAG and LLMs
  • Experience in areas such as leading solution discovery across planning and teams, architecture, agentic tools, evaluations, deployment, solution lifecycle and metrics
  • Expert-level Python skills and extensive experience with AI/ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX)
  • Deep understanding of machine learning principles, advanced evaluation methods and distributed system design
  • Proven experience with MLOps/LLMOps and managing the full lifecycle of enterprise AI-powered applications
  • Demonstrated expertise integrating AI models into large-scale production systems using APIs, data pipelines and cloud-native architectures
  • Advanced experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform)
  • Strong leadership experience driving technical initiatives
  • Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work well in complex, fast-paced environments
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with experience influencing senior stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading teams that build AI-driven systems, agent-based architectures or enterprise integrations with AI APIs from providers such as OpenAI and Anthropic
  • Advanced knowledge of vector databases, embeddings, semantic search and information retrieval systems
  • Domain expertise in legal, tax, accounting or other regulated industries
  • Track record of successful AI product launches and scaling AI systems for enterprise customers
