Founding GTM
You'll be the founding GTM at TraceRoot - the person who makes developers care, and then goes and talks to them. This is both halves of the job: you'll run the launches, the writing, and the demos that put us in front of every team shipping agents into production, and you'll get on the calls, qualify the teams worth our time, and run the pipeline that comes out of it. It's not a marketing-ops job and it's not a pure content job. Our growth today comes from developers who found the repo, installed it, and told someone. Your job is to make that happen on purpose, at volume - and to turn the best of those developers into conversations, and those conversations into customers.
We move fast, debate hard, and execute even harder, shipping weekly and iterating live with users. You'll work in person with me at least 3 days a week. If you want to own both the story and the pipeline of a product developers already love, and see your work move real numbers within days, you'll fit right in.
What You’ll Do
Make developers care about the open source: own the path from GitHub star to install to traces flowing in. Launches on Hacker News, Product Hunt, Reddit, and X that land, and the follow-through that turns a spike into retained users.
Turn the product into content, everywhere developers are: you install TraceRoot, you break it, you write the story. Docs-as-marketing, comparison pages, SEO and GEO (getting TraceRoot cited by ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity), plus dev-influencer collabs, hackathons, and a Discord where people actually get answers.
Run the calls: take first calls and technical demos with teams building agents, understand what's breaking in their stack, and show them exactly where TraceRoot fits. You'll do this every week, and you'll be good at it.
Own pipeline and the CRM: source and qualify the accounts worth talking to, keep the CRM clean enough that it's genuinely useful, run follow-up that doesn't drop, and hand me warm, well-briefed deals. You own the pipeline; I own the signature.
Own the numbers: one funnel in PostHog and one dashboard we both trust, so we always know which plays worked and which ones we're telling ourselves worked.
Requirements
You've marketed a developer product: you've grown an open-source project, a devtool, or an AI-infra product, and you can point at the launches, posts, docs, or pages that did it.
You can run a technical sales call: you're comfortable demoing to engineers, asking the uncomfortable qualifying questions, and following up until you get an answer either way.
Technically credible, not necessarily an engineer: you can install TraceRoot yourself with Claude Code, read a stack trace, and explain what it does without a hand-holder. You do not need to ship production code for this role.
Distribution-obsessed: you've built a launch, a content play, or an outbound motion that actually converted, and you get a genuine kick out of it.
Strong sense of ownership and bias for action: you own outcomes, not tasks; you move fast, make pragmatic decisions, and thrive in ambiguity without waiting for a roadmap.
Preferred Experience
DevRel / dev-tool marketing: you've done developer relations, developer-tools marketing, or GTM at a dev-tool / AI-infra company
Modern GTM stack: you live in PostHog and are fluent with Clay, n8n, and enrichment waterfalls
Early-stage / community: you've worked at an early-stage startup (or founded one), or you're active in the agent-building community
