Job Purpose

About the Role

The Solution Specialist, Japan translates customer needs into practical, commercially viable solutions across RWS IP services and technology. The initial focus is AI enabled translation for Japanese enterprises and Obviously.

Working with Business Development Managers and Account Managers, this customer facing role supports discovery, solution design, demonstrations, pilots and implementation planning. The Solution Specialist connects the Japan commercial team with global product, technology, language and delivery experts, helping turn early opportunities into repeatable offerings and paid business.

Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

Customer Discovery and Solution Design

• Join customer meetings with sales teams to understand IP and translation workflows, business objectives, decision processes and technical constraints.
• Translate requirements into use cases, solution concepts and clear value propositions for business and technical stakeholders.
• Assess language assets, quality needs, security, integration and implementation requirements with relevant RWS experts.

AI Enabled Translation

• Shape AI enabled translation solutions that combine technology, terminology and language data, workflow integration, quality assurance and linguistic expertise.
• Design and coordinate demonstrations, benchmarks and proofs of concept with agreed evaluation criteria and customer outcomes.
• Work with global product and delivery teams on feasible service designs, implementation plans and commercial models, including subscription offerings.

Obviouslyand ProductValidation

• Introduce and demonstrate relevant RWS IP technology solutions, including Obviously, with the commercial team.
• Identify priority Japanese use cases and gather structured feedback on product fit, localization, integrations and support needs.
• Support lighthouse customers and design partners through evaluation, pilot and early adoption; communicate requirements to global product teams.

Sales Support and Cross Functional Collaboration

• Prepare solution presentations, demonstrations, proposal content and responses to technical or operational customer questions.
• Assess solution fit, feasibility, scope and risks; coordinate product, technology and delivery resources for qualified opportunities.
• Build reusable discovery materials, demonstration scenarios and pilot methods; maintain clear records of customer requirements and next steps.

Skills & Experience

• Experience in solution consulting, presales, technology consulting or a comparable customer facing role involving enterprise customers.
• Ability to understand complex business requirements and turn them into feasible technical and service solutions.
• Experience with discovery, demonstrations, proposals, pilots or proofs of concept, and coordination across multiple teams.
• Native level Japanese and business level English; able to communicate with business and technical audiences in a global organization.
• Experience in AI, machine translation, language technology, SaaS, enterprise software or IP workflows is preferred.
