Team Overview

This team designs, builds, and supports scalable, cloud-native software solutions that enable reliable business and customer outcomes. This role reports to a Manager of Software Engineering and partners with Product Management, Architecture, User Experience, Quality Assurance, Platform Engineering, and Infrastructure teams to deliver secure, high-performing applications. This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.

Role Overview and Core Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable enterprise applications and services using Java, Python, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices architecture.
  • Lead the design and implementation of complex features across multiple components and distributed systems, ensuring solutions are reliable, maintainable, and aligned with architectural standards.
  • Build and support cloud-native solutions on Google Cloud Platform, including Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Bigtable, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, and Identity and Access Management services.
  • Optimize application performance, scalability, database design, and system reliability through performance tuning, automation, and engineering best practices.
  • Develop and maintain automated continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines, containerized deployments, and infrastructure processes using Git, Harness, Puppet, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues, complete root cause analyses, implement preventive measures, and participate in on-call and incident management processes.
  • Strengthen application observability by implementing effective monitoring, alerting, and logging solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, and cloud-based tools.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers, conduct code and design reviews, and promote reusable code, automation, and engineering excellence.
  • Partner with Product Managers, Architects, User Experience Designers, Quality Assurance teams, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Participate in sprint planning, estimation, and Agile ceremonies while delivering commitments with a consistent focus on quality, security, and reliability.

Required Knowledge and Experiences

    • 6+ years of experience designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting enterprise software applications, with demonstrated success delivering scalable solutions.
    • Experience building and supporting cloud-native applications and distributed systems, including containerized and Kubernetes-based deployments.
    • Experience leading technical initiatives, facilitating solution design discussions, and applying software architecture and system design patterns to complex business requirements.
    • Knowledge of Agile software development practices and experience collaborating across product, architecture, engineering, design, and quality assurance functions.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.

    Required Technical Skills

    • Strong programming proficiency in Java, Python, and Bash or shell scripting, with experience using the Spring Framework, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices architecture.
    • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, including Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Bigtable, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, and Identity and Access Management.
    • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, preferably Google Kubernetes Engine, Apache Kafka, PostgreSQL, and cloud-based database design and performance optimization.
    • Experience developing and maintaining continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines using Git and automated deployment or infrastructure-management tools.
    • Experience with unit, integration, and functional testing, as well as production debugging, logging, monitoring, Prometheus, and Grafana.

    Pay Scale Information:

    The U.S. base salary range for this position is $78,750.00 - $131,250 annually. *The salary range for this position reflects a reasonable estimate of the range of compensation for this job. At TransUnion, actual compensation is based on careful consideration of additional factors such as (but not limited to) an individual’s education, training, work experience, job-related skill set, location, and industry knowledge, as well as the scope and responsibilities of the position and market considerations. Regular, fulltime non-sales positions may be eligible to participate in TransUnion’s annual bonus plan. Certain positions may be also eligible for long-term incentives and other payments based on applicable company guidance and plan documents.
