Surgical Tech/LPN – Endoscopy

What You Will Do:
Assist the surgical team in Endoscopy by preparing operating rooms and supporting procedures under the supervision of the circulating nurse
- Verify correct surgical site, assist with patient transport as needed, and prepare the pre-operative site
- Review OR schedules, note changes to procedures, and gather required equipment, instruments, and supplies based on surgeon preference cards
- Perform surgical scrub, don sterile gown and gloves, and participate in opening and maintaining the sterile field
- Instrument surgical cases, pass instruments to surgeons, and anticipate needs to support uninterrupted procedures
- Perform sponge, sharps, and instrument counts in accordance with policy
- Assist with prepping and draping patients and gowning and gloving surgical team members
- Prepare sterile dressings and ensure all equipment is functioning properly, reporting any malfunctions, and more.
Schedule:
- Monday - Friday
- 8 hour shifts
- Start and end times depend on department’s scheduled procedures
- Start times between 6 am and 8 am
- End times between 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm
- Later starts on Thursdays
- Minimal on "call" rotation dependent on department need, 30-minute response time.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology; completion of surgical tech apprenticeship or military program; graduate of an LPN program with Surgical experience; or equivalent experience to demonstrate competency.
- CST certification preferred but not required in Iowa.
- LPN license required if graduate of LPN program.
- No prior experience required.
- Previous endo/GI experience preferred.
