Independently designs, develops, tests, and maintains complex software solutions that meet business and user needs. Emphasizes delivering scalable, reliable, and high-quality applications by applying advanced best practices in coding, architecture, and software lifecycle management, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive technical initiatives and mentor junior engineers.The engineer combines strong expertise in SQL Server, Oracle, database performance tuning, data modeling, ETL/ELT development, API integration, and AWS data services to build and support enterprise data capabilities. The position partners closely with Application Development, Architecture, Security, Data Governance, Operations, Analytics, and Business teams to deliver trusted data solutions that improve operational efficiency, client experience, regulatory compliance, and platform resiliency.
Scope of Responsibility
- Administration and support of enterprise database platforms supporting Wealth & Trust applications, operations, client servicing, reporting, accounting, workflow, and digital capabilities.
- Design, implementation, and optimization of database solutions that provide high availability, resiliency, security, and scalability.
- Development and support of data integration, ETL/ELT, API, event-driven, and file-based data movement solutions.
- Modernization of legacy data platforms and migration of on-premises databases to cloud-native and hybrid architectures.
- Enablement of enterprise reporting, analytics, operational intelligence, and future AI initiatives through trusted and governed data assets.
- Implementation of automation, monitoring, observability, and operational controls that reduce risk and improve platform stability.

2. Implements advanced features and enhancements using established coding standards, architectural patterns, and development best practices.
3. Leads code reviews and provides constructive feedback to ensure code quality, maintainability, and performance.
4. Collaborates with cross-functional technical teams to plan and execute technical initiatives, ensuring timely delivery of solutions.
5. Troubleshoots, debugs, and resolves complex software defects and production issues, applying root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
6. Participates actively in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design discussions, development, testing, deployment, and support.
7. Applies secure coding practices, testing strategies, and documentation standards to ensure software quality and compliance with organizational guidelines.
8. Mentors and supports junior engineers to foster technical growth and adherence to best practices.
9. Utilizes and contributes to existing frameworks, tools, and technologies to enhance application development across relevant technology domains.

1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field with 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent education and training.
2. In-depth knowledge of information systems and ability to identify, apply, and implement IT best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years supporting enterprise SQL Server and/or Oracle database environments.
- Experience with Snowflake, cloud data warehouses, and modern ELT architectures.
- Experience using dbt, Talend, Informatica, or similar data integration tools.
- Experience designing scalable analytical data models and data products.
- Familiarity with data sharing, governance, security, and performance optimization within Snowflake environments.
- Experience designing and supporting enterprise data integration solutions.
- Strong SQL development and performance tuning experience.
- Experience with Python, PowerShell, or automation scripting.
- Experience supporting large-scale financial services platforms.
- Understanding of data governance, regulatory compliance, SOX controls, and operational risk management.
- Experience with analytics platforms, reporting environments, and modern data architectures.
To comply with the Virginia pay transparency statute and for work locations in Virginia only, The annual base salary for this position is $105,040-$130,030.
