Overview of Opportunity
Two Six Technologies is actively seeking a Hardware Reverse Engineer to join our team in Dayton, Ohio. The team is made up of intelligent individuals passionate about embedded system security, vulnerability analysis, and hardware design evaluation. The team is growing and looking for someone with an embedded security and hardware analysis background who has an understanding of how to evaluate complex system architectures, rapidly prototype exploitation tools, and isolate functional behaviors in hardened hardware. What you will do
- Execute technical hardware reverse engineering tasks under moderate supervision, focusing on analyzing complex embedded systems, high-speed data devices, and system-on-modules.
- Support our Wireless Division and government customer programs alongside top-tier hardware engineers and security researchers to isolate functional behaviors and perform deep vulnerability analysis.
- Reverse engineer, extract, and analyze key system components, communication channels, firmware memory, and binaries across target architectures (x86, ARM, AVR).
- Rapidly prototype novel technologies and security tools in C, C++, and Python to analyze, exploit, and defend embedded hardware platforms.
- Perform hardware bring-up and debugging using tools like JTAG, UART, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers, and draft comprehensive technical reports on system characteristics and vulnerabilities.
What you will need (basic qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, or a related scientific field OR 2-5 years of experience in the embedded security industry.
- Demonstrated experience reverse engineering and analyzing binaries (x86/ARM/AVR), embedded hardware components, or system-on-modules.
- Hands-on proficiency in debugging embedded hardware systems using JTAG, UART, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
- Programming proficiency in C, C++, and Python for exploit prototyping and security application development.
- Active U.S. security clearance at the Secret level, with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
Nice to have (preferred)
- Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, or a related scientific field.
- Experience targeting AMD/Xilinx, Altera, or Microsemi FPGA devices, or custom PCB design experience with tools such as Altium.
- Experience developing and integrating embedded bootloaders or working with RF protocols and systems.
- Knowledge of Layer 1 and Layer 2 protocols (USB, SPI, I2C, PCIe, Ethernet, 802.11, Bluetooth/ZigBee) or hardware hacking experience on IoT platforms.
Security Clearance:
- Active U.S. security clearance at the Secret level, with the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance.

The projected salary range listed for this position is annualized. This is a general guideline and not a guarantee of salary. Salary is one component of our total compensation package and the specific salary offered is determined by various factors, including, but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, geographic location, as well as contract specific affordability and organizational requirements.
Salary Range
$99,974—$149,961 USD
