UP Education is a major private dual-sector tertiary education provider operating across New Zealand and Australia. Headquartered in Auckland, the group delivers higher education degrees, vocational education and training (VET), and university preparation pathway programs across a regional network of over 60 campuses alongside online platforms.

We’re looking for a Learning Designer to join our Product team and help us develop high-quality online learning and assessment materials across our Australian education portfolio. You might already be working in learning design, vocational education or course development. Or you might be coming from a role where you’ve developed strong skills in writing, reviewing, structuring or working with detailed content and are ready to take the next step.

Either way, we’re looking for someone who is curious, organised, has an exceptional eye for detail and can take complex information and turn it into something clear and easy to follow.

This is a fully remote role and can be based anywhere in Australia or New Zealand.

You’ll be joining a team responsible for developing and improving online education products, with the opportunity to build your learning design capability while contributing to real course development from day one.

If you’re great with detail, enjoy making complicated things clearer and think your skills could translate well into learning design, we’d love to hear from you.

What you’ll be doing

Working with our Product Development Manager, Subject Matter Experts and trainers, you’ll contribute to the development and continuous improvement of our online courses. Your work will include:

  • Developing and reviewing online learning content and assessment materials

  • Working with Subject Matter Experts to turn their expertise into clear, engaging learning resources

  • Making sure learning content, outcomes and assessments all align

  • Reviewing materials for accuracy, consistency and quality

  • Supporting assessment validation and continuous improvement activities

  • Building and maintaining course content within our Learning Management System

  • Responding to feedback from students, trainers and industry to improve our courses

  • Keeping course documentation, mapping and version control accurate and up to date

You don’t necessarily need to have been a Learning Designer before. What matters most to us is that you:

  • Are a strong writer and can communicate information clearly and accurately

  • Have excellent attention to detail and naturally spot things that don’t quite add up

  • Are comfortable working with detailed information, documents and processes

  • Can learn new systems, subject matter and ways of working quickly

  • Are organised and can manage your own workload and deadlines

  • Are comfortable asking questions, taking feedback and refining your work

  • Enjoy working with different people to get the information you need

  • Are confident using Microsoft Word and other everyday digital tools

  • Can work independently and effectively in a remote environment

Experience in learning design, online education, vocational education and training (VET), assessment development or an LMS such as Moodle would be an advantage, but we’re open to people with strong transferable skills.

A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent) can also come in handy but is not essential.

Questions about your identity help us appreciate the diversity of individuals looking to work with us, ensuring we’re attracting applications from people with identities and perspectives that are as diverse as our students.

We are an equal opportunity employer. As part of our commitment to equity, we work to ensure a fair and consistent interview process. We celebrate diversity and we are committed to an inclusive work environment.
