About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Content Manager to lead day-to-day digital content management and web publishing for a high-visibility federal program. This role combines direct content execution, team leadership, and workflow coordination. The Content Manager will manage incoming requests, coordinate team assignments, and personally complete content updates, including content uploads, data changes, and map updates, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timely delivery.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, responsive, and comfortable managing a steady flow of detailed tasks in a ticket-based environment. They bring excellent customer service and communication skills, work effectively with a small, dedicated content team and key stakeholders, and serve as the team's primary point of accountability for day-to-day operations.

The ideal candidate has a strong eye for detail and an obsession with quality, experience with high-visibility sites or projects, and a collaborative, team-oriented approach. The details really matter on this one, so a thorough reviewer who takes pride in getting things right would be a great fit.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on content updates, including uploading and revising content, policy and guidance updates, data changes, and map updates.
  • Review and quality-check all updates for accuracy, consistency, accessibility, and compliance with federal and agency requirements.
  • Manage incoming requests and the Jira board, including triage, prioritization, assignment, progress tracking, and timely completion.
  • Serve as the team's lead and single point of accountability for day-to-day content operations, team workload, deliverables, and quality.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to team members, supporting consistent execution and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with content owners, stakeholders, and subject matter experts to clarify requirements, resolve questions, and coordinate updates.
  • Maintain content standards, documentation, version control, and established publishing and review procedures.
  • Handle sensitive government information securely and in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve content workflows, quality assurance, and operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to content strategy, governance, audits, and performance analysis as program needs evolve.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Must Have

  • You must be a US citizen and be able to pass and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism, User Experience, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in digital content management, web publishing, content operations, or related roles, with a strong focus on accuracy and quality assurance.
  • Demonstrated experience managing digital content and coordinating content updates in a government or public-sector environment.
  • Experience leading a team, coordinating workloads, and ensuring timely, high-quality delivery of work.
  • Strong understanding of federal accessibility requirements, including Section 508 compliance.
  • Proven ability to conduct content audits, gap analyses, and user research to inform strategy.
  • Proficiency with content management systems (CMS) like Drupal, WordPress, or SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of web design principles, including SEO, HTML, and information architecture.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret content performance metrics and user feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments and using project management tools (e.g., Jira, Trello).
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with experience managing and guiding content teams.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with healthcare related digital content, content management, or research.
  • Familiarity with basic web technologies or scripting languages, such as HTML, CSS, or Python, or an interest in learning.
  • Certifications such as CPACC (Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies), UX certifications, or PMI certifications are a plus
