The role
As our Senior Risk Partner - Digital & Cyber, you’ll provide independent second-line risk leadership and oversight across Digital & Data, Technology and Cyber Security. You’ll help ensure technology, cyber, information, AI and third-party risks are clearly identified, understood and managed within Vector’s enterprise risk management framework and approved risk appetite.
You’ll be part of the Risk & Resilience team, working alongside two other Risk Partners and a Risk Analyst. While your focus will be Digital & Cyber, you’ll contribute to broader team priorities and help strengthen risk capability and culture across the organisation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Build trusted relationships with Digital & Data, Technology and Cyber Security leaders and specialist teams, bringing practical support and an understanding of their priorities.
- Translate complex technical risks into clear business impacts, options and decisions.
- Assess emerging risks associated with new technology, AI, digital platforms and evolving operating models.
- Help integrate risk management into strategic planning, investment decisions, operational activities and delivery.
- Design and deliver targeted second-line assurance reviews to test key controls and risk treatments, providing clear, practical recommendations for improvement.
- Monitor key controls and ensure assurance findings and agreed actions are tracked through to completion.
- Develop meaningful Digital & Cyber risk reporting for senior leaders, the Executive and Board.
- Use risk data, key risk indicators and insights to identify trends, emerging issues and opportunities for improvement.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of risk-related policies, standards and procedures.
Who are we looking for?
You don’t necessarily need to have followed a traditional risk management career path. You’ll bring strong knowledge across cyber security, digital technology, AI, data and operational risk, with the ability to understand complex environments, navigate competing priorities and help teams make sound decisions.
You’ll bring:
- At least five years’ senior-level experience in technology, cyber security or a closely related field.
- Experience supporting and influencing senior leaders, executives or governance bodies.
- Experience working within or alongside risk frameworks and methodologies.
- Strong business acumen and the ability to balance operational priorities, customer outcomes and risk.
- The confidence to provide independent and constructive challenge while maintaining trusted relationships.
- Strong written and verbal communication, facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strategic thinking, sound judgement and an ability to identify the issues that matter most.
- Experience in a regulated, critical infrastructure or similarly complex corporate environment.
Why Vector
You’ll have the scope to shape the role, strengthen risk maturity and contribute to decisions that support Vector’s long-term resilience.
You’ll have:
- The opportunity to influence strategically important technology, data, AI and cyber decisions.
- Exposure to senior leaders and governance forums across Vector.
- A supportive and collaborative Risk & Resilience team.
- Flexible working arrangements.
- Market-competitive remuneration and benefits.
- Ongoing professional development and career growth opportunities.
- The chance to contribute to work that helps power Auckland’s future and supports New Zealand’s energy transition.
