1 - First ShiftJob Summary
Are you the type of person who is hands-on and likes to be an integral part of the design of construction and agricultural equipment? In this role you will research, design, build, and test new equipment. We’re looking for someone to work in a team environment designing equipment that will feed the people and build the infrastructure of the world.What You’llDo
1. Understand engineering principalsto analyze data and/or develop CAD models to optimizedesign opportunities.
2. Apply technical knowledge and engineering principles to invent, design, document, build and test new solutionsfor assigned industry using CAD tools.
3. Use SolidWorks, PDMWorks, ECN tools and other design tools to produce prototype parts.
4. Work in a team environment to meet team goals and metrics.
5. Test design changes to improve machine performance and reliability.
6. Build relationships to successfully execute onprojects and to grow in knowledge of the Vermeer engineering functions.
What We’reLooking For
- Four-year college degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Agriculture of Electrical Engineering or equivalent education and experience.
- Ability to identifythe root cause of manufactured or purchasedcomponentfailures.
- Knowledge in the FEA, hydraulics, electronics, engine systems, statistics, strength of materials, durabilityand serviceability of products.
- Ability to create robust design, identifychanges early in the design progress and to recognize design commonality.
- Ability to operatesimple mechanics tools and wrenches, assembly hand tools, drill press, lathe, band saw and assembly power tools.
- Ability to effectively manage time and resources to meet the needs and schedules of internal customers and respond immediatelyto production questions and crisis with solutions.
- Ability to understand material strengths, fatigue strength, and manufacturability to ensure that the right configuration and materials are utilized.
- Ability to develop a test plan, submita detailed corporate test request, be present during execution of the test, and review/process test data, providing meaningful results.
Travel
- Occasional travel is expected of this position.
Work Location
