A day in the life of a Senior Associate, Federal Tax Compliance at VF looks a little like this.
The Senior Associate, Federal Tax Compliance is responsible for supporting the Company's U.S. federal income tax compliance and reporting obligations. This role works closely with internal tax, accounting, finance, and business teams to ensure accurate and timely preparation of federal tax filings, tax provisions, audit support, and related analyses. The position requires strong technical tax knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across multiple functions within the organization.

Federal Tax Compliance
- Prepare and review U.S. federal income tax returns, extensions, estimates, and related tax filings.
- Support the collection, validation, and analysis of tax data required for compliance processes.
- Maintain tax workpapers and supporting documentation in accordance with company policies and audit standards.
- Monitor tax law changes and evaluate potential impacts on compliance requirements.
Tax Accounting & Reporting
- Assist with quarterly and annual income tax provision calculations under ASC 740.
- Prepare tax account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
- Support deferred tax analyses and documentation.
- Partner with Corporate Accounting during financial close processes.
Audit & Controversy Support
- Respond to IRS notices, information requests, and tax authority inquiries.
- Support federal income tax audits and examinations by gathering documentation and preparing analysis.
- Maintain records and support materials related to audit activities.
Process Improvement & Data Management
- Identify opportunities to improve tax processes, controls, and automation.
- Utilize tax technology and data analytics tools to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Support implementation and maintenance of tax software solutions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with accounting, treasury, legal, payroll, and other departments to obtain information necessary for tax compliance.
- Communicate tax requirements and deadlines to business stakeholders.
- Assist with special projects, tax planning initiatives, and other tax-related analyses as assigned.
What do you need to succeed?
We all have unique skills that we bring to work and celebrate every day. For this role, there are foundation skills you’ll need to succeed and excel. Additionally, while formal education in a related field is great to have, we are most interested in your 3-5 years of experience and professional achievements.
The foundation skills you will need in this position are:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, taxation, or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in federal income tax within a corporate tax department or public accounting environment.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and tax technology applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
There are also a few skills that are not required but preferred.
- CPA, MST, or progress toward professional certification.
- Experience with large corporate federal income tax returns and tax provision processes.
- Familiarity with tax research tools and tax compliance software.
- Experience supporting IRS audits and tax controversy matters.
- Eagerness to learn new tax concepts and technologies and continuously expand technical expertise.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teams outside of Tax and build effective business relationships.
- Experience corresponding directly with taxing authorities and responding to notices and information requests.

Hiring Range:
$72,000.00 USD - $90,000.00 USD annuallyIncentive Potential: This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential.Specific details of the additional compensation eligibility for this position will be provided during the recruiting and interview process.
