ServiceNow Technical Architect

We are seeking a highly skilled ServiceNow Technical Architect / Lead Developer to lead the design, development, integration, and implementation of enterprise-scale ServiceNow solutions. The individual will be responsible for defining technical architecture, guiding development teams, ensuring adherence to platform best practices, and delivering scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions aligned with business objectives. The role requires deep expertise across the ServiceNow platform, strong stakeholder management skills, and the ability to mentor developers while driving technical excellence throughout the project lifecycle.

The core responsibilities for the job include the following:

Architecture and Solution Design:

• Design end-to-end ServiceNow technical solutions aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
• Define platform architecture, application design patterns, and development standards.
• Conduct solution design workshops and technical discovery sessions with stakeholders.
• Create and maintain High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD) documents.
• Evaluate customization requirements and recommend OOTB capabilities wherever possible.
• Ensure platform scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.

Development Leadership:

• Lead development activities across ServiceNow implementations and enhancements.
• Provide technical direction and oversight to developers and administrators.
• Review code and enforce development best practices.
• Develop complex business rules, client scripts, UI policies, script includes, flows, and integrations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
• Conduct technical estimations and support project planning activities.

Platform Development

• Develop and configure ServiceNow applications using App Engine Studio and Studio.
• Configure workflows using Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, and Workflow Editor (where applicable).
• Develop custom applications and scoped applications.
• Implement platform upgrades and patching activities.

Integration and Automation:

• Design and develop integrations using REST APIs, SOAP Web Services, IntegrationHub, MID Server, JDBC integrations, LDAP/AD integrations, and SSO (SAML, OAuth, and OpenID Connect).
• Lead integration architecture discussions with external systems.
• Ensure secure data exchange and integration governance.

ServiceNow Module Expertise:

• Lead technical implementation across one or more of the following modules:
• ITSM: Incident Management, Change Management, Problem Management, Request Management, Service Catalog, Knowledge Management.
• ITOM: Discovery, Service Mapping, Event Management, Cloud Discovery.
• ITAM: Software Asset Management (SAM Pro), Hardware Asset Management (HAM Pro).
• SPM: Demand Management, Project Portfolio Management, Agile Development 2.0 Resource Management.
• HRSD: Employee Center, HR Case Management, Lifecycle Events.
• CSM: Customer Service Management, Omnichannel, Agent Workspace.
• SecOps / GRC: Vulnerability Response, Security Incident Response, Risk and Compliance.

Technical Responsibilities

• Develop: Business Rules, Client Scripts, Script Includes, UI Actions, UI Policies, Data Policies, ACLs, Notifications, Scheduled Jobs, Transform Maps, Import Sets, Service Portal Components, and Employee Center Components.
• Configure: Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, Virtual Agent, Workspaces, Performance Analytics, Reports, and Dashboards.
• Implement: Scoped Applications, Custom APIs, Scripted REST Services, Catalog Items, Record Producers, and Service Catalog Workflows.

Governance and Quality Assurance:

• Establish ServiceNow development standards and governance processes.
• Conduct code reviews and solution reviews.
• Ensure compliance with ServiceNow best practices and platform guardrails.
• Support security reviews and performance optimization.
• Participate in CAB, architecture review boards, and governance forums.
• Lead technical risk assessments and mitigation planning.

Stakeholder Management:

• Work closely with Business Analysts, Functional Consultants, Product Owners, and Business Stakeholders.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Present technical solutions and recommendations to leadership teams.
• Support client workshops and executive-level discussions.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 15+ years of IT experience.
• 10+ years of ServiceNow platform experience.
• Experience leading ServiceNow implementation programs.
• Experience working in Agile and DevOps environments.
• Strong JavaScript development experience.
• Experience with ServiceNow platform architecture and governance.
• Technical Skills: ServiceNow Platform, App Engine Studio, Flow Designer, Integration Hub, Service Portal, Employee Center, Virtual Agent, Performance Analytics, Workspace Configuration.
• Development: JavaScript, Glide APIs, Jelly, HTML/CSS, AngularJS, REST/SOAP APIs.
• Integrations: REST, SOAP, OAuth, SAML, LDAP, MID Server.
• DevOps: Source Control Integration, Update Sets, CI/CD Pipelines, Automated Test Framework (ATF).

Preferred Certifications:

• Mandatory: ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA), ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD), and CIS certifications in SPM, HRSD, CSM, ITOM, or ITAM (min. 3).
• Preferred: ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) - ITSM, ServiceNow Certified Technical Architect (CTA) (Preferred), ServiceNow Certified Master Architect (CMA) (Preferred).
