About the role
Our client is an international organisation working in chip manufacturing technology, looking for freelance C++ Developers to join a project based in Leuven, Belgium. The engagement is for 12 months, with the possibility of extension, and is open to both medior and senior developers.
The project is a handling platform. The successful candidate will work mostly in C++ on the application, and in Python on testing, with some limited work in C# possible. Day to day, you will join the team’s Scrum sync and then work on design, coding and development testing, with AI used to support the work. You will work closely with the systems engineering team, so the role suits someone who can follow technical complexity and explain their decisions clearly.
The role is based on site in Leuven three days a week, with the rest of the week remote. Depending on project needs, international travel to Asia may be required, with expenses covered by the customer. Rate details will be confirmed with candidates.
Main responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain the application for the handling platform, mainly in modern C++
- Write and maintain automated tests in Python
- Contribute to limited development work in C# where needed
- Take part in Scrum activities, including daily syncs with the team
- Work closely with systems engineering to turn requirements into well-structured software
- Use AI-assisted tools to support design, coding and development testing
- Apply object-oriented design principles to keep the codebase clear and maintainable
- Use Git and GitHub for version control, and JIRA and TeamCity for tracking and CI/CD
- Support the team’s process rigour, including documentation and review
- Travel internationally when the project requires it
Requirements
Essential
- Strong experience in modern and advanced C++
- Experience with Visual Studio
- Python, used for testing
- Object-oriented design
- Git
- Experience developing on Windows
- Fluent English
- Medior or senior level experience
- Availability to work on site in Leuven 3 days per week
- Availability to start in December or January
Desirable
- MMI experience, including WPF and C#
- Handler experience, including C# and PLC
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work comfortably with complexity
- Fast learner with a rigorous approach to process
- Comfortable with international cooperation and travel

The offer
