About this Role
We are seeking an experienced professional to provide hands-on operational support for AWS-hosted microservices and REST APIs running on Amazon EKS/Kubernetes platforms. This role focuses on maintaining service availability, improving operational excellence, driving automation initiatives, supporting incident resolution, and enhancing observability across distributed cloud-native environments. The successful candidate will contribute to service reliability through structured troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and responsible AI/AIOps practices with appropriate human oversight.
What you will do
- Monitor and support AWS-hosted microservices and REST API services across production environments.
- Troubleshoot application, API, container, networking, DNS and access-related issues using structured diagnostic approaches.
- Investigate and resolve incidents, support critical service recoveries, and provide timely technical updates to stakeholders.
- Perform problem analysis, contribute to root cause investigations, and drive corrective actions through to closure.
- Support Amazon EKS/Kubernetes environments including pods, deployments, services, ingress, ConfigMaps, Secrets, namespaces, probes and autoscaling.
- Troubleshoot AWS infrastructure components including VPC, Route 53, WAF, load balancers, IAM, certificates and secrets management.
- Maintain dashboards, alerts, health checks and monitoring solutions to improve proactive issue detection.
- Automate operational activities using Shell scripting, Python, AWS services and runbook-driven workflows.
- Support AI/AIOps use cases such as event correlation, anomaly detection, knowledge retrieval, incident summarisation and guided remediation.
- Collaborate with platform, network, security, database, service-management and vendor teams to ensure service continuity.
- Contribute to audit readiness, operational governance, recovery testing and compliance activities.
Who you are
- 5 to 7 years of IT operations or application support experience with hands-on production support responsibilities.
- Strong experience supporting AWS-hosted microservices, REST APIs and Amazon EKS/Kubernetes workloads.
- Knowledge of HTTP protocols, JSON, authentication, TLS, latency management, retry mechanisms and API operations.
- Experience with AWS services including VPC, Route 53, WAF, ELB/ALB/NLB, IAM, CloudWatch, ECR and Secrets Manager.
- Proficiency in Linux/Unix administration, log analysis and Shell or Python scripting.
- Experience using observability and monitoring platforms such as CloudWatch, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Kibana, Splunk, Datadog, Prometheus or Grafana.
- Understanding of container technologies, Helm, CI/CD pipelines and GitOps practices.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes including Incident, Problem, Change and Service Request Management.
- Strong analytical, stakeholder management, communication and documentation skills.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant professional experience. AWS and ITIL certifications are advantageous.
