About this Role
We are seeking a Cloud Engineer to support, administer and continuously improve business-critical Core Cloud platforms in line with Vodafone requirements. The role combines hands-on cloud operations with troubleshooting, infrastructure monitoring, automation and participation in technical projects.
You will work across cloud, virtualisation, networking, storage and compute technologies, collaborating with technical teams, NOC engineers, operations colleagues and third-party technology vendors. Success will be reflected in cloud solution availability and performance, incident resolution times and effective management of the monthly backlog.
What you’ll do
- Administer business-critical Core Cloud applications and platforms.
- Troubleshoot incidents and faults, implementing both temporary fixes and permanent corrective actions.
- Collaborate with third-party hardware and software vendors to resolve issues within expected timeframes.
- Perform routine monitoring and health checks across Cloud systems.Implement automated incident detection and continuously optimise system monitoring.
- Contribute to new projects by providing technical input and implementing or validating process and work-instruction improvements.
- Verify infrastructure and platform configuration changes.
- Collaborate with customer technical teams, NOC engineers, operations managers and other Service Delivery teams.
- Support continuous improvement in Cloud platform availability, performance and operational efficiency.
Who you are
- At least 5 years of experience in a large enterprise environment, with practical experience in troubleshooting, problem solving and technical analysis.
- Good knowledge of Cloud technologies and CaaS, PaaS and IaaS.
- Excellent practical experience with virtualisation and networking.
- Good knowledge of storage, SAN and compute technologies.
- Knowledge of vROps, PowerCLI and DevOps tools.
- Good knowledge of automation technologies including Ansible, Git and Python.
- A collaborative approach and effective problem-solving capabilities.
- An ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
- An ability to work effectively during high-priority incidents and operational emergencies.
- Fluency in English.
- Italian language skills nice to have
Preferred certifications:
- VCTA - VMware Certified Technical Associate
- VCP - VMware Certified Professional
- VCAP - VMware Certified Advanced Professional
Relevant certification areas includeData Centre Virtualisation, Network Virtualisation, and Cloud Management and Automation.
