The Buying/Procurement Specialist is responsible for ensuring the timely availability of materials at factories, service sites, and suppliers. The role serves as the primary point of contact for order execution and is accountable for supplier performance, material availability, fulfilment KPIs, and cross-functional coordination to support uninterrupted production.
Supplier Management
- Ensure timely PO placement and material delivery as per contractual commitments.
- Manage procurement based on MRP requirements and need dates.
- Monitor supplier OTD (On-Time Delivery) and quality performance.
- Lead discussions related to material shortages and supply crises.
- Obtain and review supplier progress reports.
- Identify supplier-caused delays and drive recovery/back-charge actions where applicable.
- Execute supplier improvement plans and corrective actions.
- Ensure suppliers are paid on time.
- Deliver fulfilment KPIs consistently.
Cross functional coordination
- Manage the complete order fulfilment cycle.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Production, Quality, Logistics, Sourcing, and Supplier Quality teams.
- Facilitate inspections, NCR closures, and transportation planning.
- Support new product development and supplier onboarding activities.
- Collaborate with Wabtec network factories and offshore suppliers.
- Participate in daily material and production review meetings.
Reporting & material visibility
- Provide end-to-end material visibility and tracking.
- Monitor material movement between suppliers and factories until GRN.
- Drive best practices in MRP/MTA planning and fulfilment processes.
- Lead or participate in supplier performance rating and improvement programs.
- Maintain accurate reporting and analytics for management reviews.

Education & Working Experience
B.E./B.Tech from any reputed institute.
Minimum 5+ years of experience.
Language Skills
- Proficient in English language
Base Location
- Marhowrah (Saran).
Travel
- Need based to All India based suppliers.
