Who will you be working with?
Trip Optimizer® is an Energy Management System designed to optimize and automate train operations by creating the most fuel-efficient operating plan while meeting customer scheduling and train handling requirements. In this role, this Software Release Engineer will work with Quality, DevOps, Cyber Security, Engineering, and Project Management teams to ensure compliant, efficient execution of our release cadence for the Trip Optimizer® & LOCOTROL product portfolio. The Software Release Engineer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing software releases across the Trip Optimizer® & LOCOTROL product portfolios.
What will you be doing?
- Work with engineering and project management to support the execution of software release plans
- Work with Quality organization to ensure compliance to standards through the SDLC
- Work with Cyber Security organization to ensure compliance to standards through the SDLC
- Coordinate performance metric collection and analysis with software and validation engineers
- Design, implement and test software for embedded systems from requirements analysis through production and commercial deployment.
- Develop product software in C and C++
- Work closely with the business unit to ensure application development meets product specification requirements.
- Participate actively in design and code reviews.
- Drive performance and reliability enhancements.
- Establish CI/CD pipelines to support software development.
What do we want to know about you?
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field and 3+ years of related work experience
- Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively with cross-functional engineering teams.
- Knowledge of software engineering principles
- Experience with x86 and/or PowerPC micro-processor in a C/C++ environment.
- Experience using GitLab
Preferred Additional Skills?
- Experience with SW analysis tools such as Coverity, and SW unit test tools such as VectorCAST.
- Experience with x86 and/or PowerPC micro-processor in a C/C++ environment.
- Experience with GitLab, Jenkins, and associated CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with SW configuration management tools such as Perforce.
- Experience with IBM ELM Tool Suite
- Experience in Tollgate software development
Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary rate for this role is currently $71500-98100 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
