As part of the Leadership Talent Acquisition team, you will play a critical role in shaping Walmart’s technology leadership organization by identifying and attracting exceptional leaders from across the global technology ecosystem. You will work closely with senior executives and technology leaders to build leadership talent strategies, strengthen succession pipelines, and hire high-impact talent across Walmart Global Tech.
This role will have a strong focus on Director, Senior/ Group Director, Distinguished Engineer, Fellow and other senior technical leadership roles, requiring deep expertise in executive search, passive talent engagement, market intelligence, talent mapping and strategic stakeholder management.
What You’ll Do
Lead Senior Leadership Hiring
- Own end-to-end recruitment for Director, Senior/ Group Director, Distinguished Engineer, Fellow and other senior leadership and critical technology roles across Walmart Global Tech.
- Partner directly with senior executives, VPs, hiring managers and HR leadership to understand business strategy, organization design, workforce plans and leadership talent requirements.
- Translate complex business and technology needs into targeted leadership hiring strategies and compelling talent propositions.
- Lead highly confidential and business-critical searches with a strong focus on quality, speed, candidate experience and organizational fit.
Build Executive Talent Strategies & Pipelines
- Develop proactive talent strategies for critical leadership and future capability needs rather than relying solely on active applicants.
- Build and maintain deep, diverse and market-mapped leadership talent pools across India and global technology markets.
- Identify and engage passive leadership talent from leading technology companies, global capability centers, startups and emerging technology organizations.
- Develop long-term relationships with senior technology executives and high-caliber technical leaders, including candidates who may not be actively seeking opportunities.
- Build succession-ready external talent pipelines for strategic and hard-to-fill leadership positions.
Executive Search & Talent Mapping
- Conduct sophisticated research and talent mapping across technology ecosystems to identify relevant leadership talent.
- Leverage executive search methodologies, market intelligence, professional networks, AI-enabled sourcing tools and industry relationships to identify exceptional talent.
- Develop talent maps covering leadership capabilities, organizational structures, technology expertise, career progression and relevant market pools.
- Build targeted competitive intelligence on talent movements, leadership changes, organizational expansions, layoffs, acquisitions and emerging technology hubs.
- Establish relationships with senior leaders and external talent communities to strengthen Walmart’s leadership talent brand.
Strategic Stakeholder Partnership
- Act as a trusted talent advisor to senior business and technology leaders, providing insights beyond the recruitment process.
- Challenge hiring assumptions constructively and influence decisions through data, market intelligence and talent availability.
- Consult with leaders on talent strategy, role calibration, market positioning, compensation considerations and competitive hiring dynamics.
- Establish clear search strategies, candidate profiles, assessment expectations and decision-making frameworks at the beginning of each search.
- Facilitate alignment across multiple senior stakeholders and ensure disciplined governance throughout the hiring process.
Candidate Engagement & Experience
- Personally engage and build relationships with senior candidates throughout the hiring journey.
- Develop compelling, personalized value propositions for leadership candidates based on their career aspirations, technology interests and leadership impact.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to candidates while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism throughout the process.
- Deliver a differentiated, high-touch "white-glove" candidate experience for senior leadership hires.
- Effectively manage complex offer discussions, compensation expectations, counteroffers and closing strategies.
Market Intelligence & Talent Insights
- Provide senior leadership with actionable insights on technology talent markets, competitor organizations, leadership movements and compensation trends.
- Track market availability and competitiveness for critical leadership capabilities.
- Analyze candidate response, conversion, offer acceptance and hiring trends to continuously improve leadership recruiting strategies.
- Develop data-driven recommendations to improve Walmart's ability to attract and hire senior technology talent.
- Build strong understanding of technology domains including AI/ML, Cloud, Data, Software Engineering, Platforms, Infrastructure, Product Engineering and emerging technologies.
Thought Leadership & Team Capability
- Serve as a subject matter expert and thought leader for leadership talent acquisition within the organization.
- Mentor and coach recruiters on advanced sourcing, executive engagement, stakeholder management and closing strategies.
- Share market intelligence, sourcing strategies, candidate insights and best practices across the Talent Acquisition organization.
- Contribute to building scalable leadership hiring frameworks, playbooks and talent intelligence capabilities.
- Represent Walmart Global Tech externally as a talent ambassador and strengthen relationships with senior technology talent communities.
Governance & Operational Excellence
- Ensure all leadership hiring activities follow Walmart's recruiting processes, compliance requirements and governance standards.
- Maintain accurate and timely recruitment data within ATS and talent management systems.
- Establish disciplined search governance, including search strategy, pipeline reviews, interview progress, decision tracking and closure.
- Use recruitment analytics and funnel metrics to identify opportunities for improving search effectiveness and hiring outcomes.
What You’ll Bring
- 15+ years of progressive Talent Acquisition / Executive Search experience, with significant experience hiring senior technology leadership.
- Proven experience recruiting Director, Senior Director, VP, Distinguished Engineer, Fellow or equivalent senior technology leadership talent.
- Demonstrated success managing complex, confidential and high-impact leadership searches.
- Strong understanding of the global technology talent ecosystem and leadership talent markets, particularly across India.
- Deep expertise in executive sourcing, passive candidate engagement, talent mapping and market intelligence.
- Strong network among senior technology professionals and leaders across leading technology companies, global capability centers, startups and emerging technology organizations.
- Ability to understand complex technology organizations, architectures, products and engineering capabilities and translate them into effective talent strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and advise senior executives and hiring leaders using data, market insights and sound talent judgment.
- Strong executive presence with exceptional communication, relationship-building, negotiation and influencing skills.
- Experience managing complex stakeholder groups across business, technology, HR, compensation and Talent Acquisition.
- Strong understanding of executive compensation, competitive talent dynamics and offer negotiation strategies.
- Proficiency with ATS platforms, talent intelligence tools, LinkedIn and AI-enabled sourcing/recruiting technologies.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to convert recruiting data and market intelligence into actionable recommendations.
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently, manage multiple strategic searches and deliver results in a fast-paced, highly matrixed environment.
- High degree of confidentiality, integrity, discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive leadership searches.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience recruiting senior technology leaders within large-scale global technology organizations.
- Experience partnering with C-suite, VP-level stakeholders.
- Experience building leadership talent pools and succession pipelines proactively.
- Exposure to hiring across multiple geographies and relocating global technology talent into India.
- Experience using AI, talent intelligence platforms and data-driven sourcing methodologies to identify and engage executive talent.
- Experience in building executive talent communities and long-term relationships with senior technology leaders.
