Role summary:The Principal Software Engineer leads platform engineering efforts by delivering scalable, cloud-native solutions and reusable infrastructure components. This role drives the full software development lifecycle, integrating AI/ML technologies to build intelligent systems that serve millions. About the team:
The EDF Team develops and maintains mission-critical systems supporting the world’s largest retailer. This group designs, implements, and tests code changes tailored to specialized business needs while collaborating across functions to monitor and resolve production issues. The team emphasizes technical excellence, problem-solving, and continuous improvement to deliver scalable, reliable solutions. Members influence best practices that transform business operations and enhance system performance. The team fosters innovation and accountability, ensuring solutions align with key business objectives and support long-term platform evolution in a dynamic, technology-driven environment.
What you'll do:
- Lead platform engineering efforts delivering scalable infrastructure, reusable tooling, and AI/ML frameworks aligned with strategic roadmaps.
- Drive full software development lifecycle including design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance across multiple teams.
- Architect cloud-native, distributed systems ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and real-time data processing capabilities.
- Integrate AI agents and intelligent applications using modern programming languages and model-driven design techniques.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and influence architectural standards to promote maintainability and interoperability.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into clear technical requirements and measurable success metrics.
- Champion continuous improvement by adopting new technologies and enhancing engineering processes and tools.
What you'll bring:
- Extensive experience in platform engineering leadership, delivering scalable, cloud-native architectures and reusable tooling.
- Proven ability to lead full software development lifecycles, including CI/CD, testing, monitoring, and incident response.
- Expertise in designing distributed systems optimized for real-time data processing and AI/ML integration.
- Strong skills in technical solution design, debugging, and requirements analysis.
- Proficiency with AI agents and model-driven design to enhance development velocity and quality.
- Demonstrated leadership in mentoring engineers and influencing architectural decisions.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills across technical and business stakeholders.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
