Position Details:

The Opportunity:

WSU Tri-Cities is seeking a Custodian 1 to help maintain welcoming, clean, safe, and well-prepared facilities for students, employees, campus partners, and visitors. In this role, you will perform routine custodial and housekeeping duties within assigned campus areas, using established schedules and procedures to care for classrooms, offices, common areas, laboratories, restrooms, floors, furnishings, and equipment. You will also set up and take down furnishings and equipment for campus events, respond to assigned custodial requests, maintain custodial tools and supply areas, and participate in campus emergency response activities as needed.

The regular schedule is Monday through Friday, eight-hour shifts between 1:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Occasional earlier shifts from 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., as well as occasional night or weekend work, may be required to support campus events. Schedule changes will be communicated in advance and made in accordance with policy.

Percentage Breakdown of Job Functions:

  • Floor Care - 35%

  • Custodial - 30%

  • Restroom Care - 20%

  • Event Set-up - 10%

  • Other Duties as Assigned - 5%

Additional Information:

This is a full-time(100% FTE),permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.

This position works on-site at the WSU Tri-Cities campus in Richland, WA.

Monthly Salary: $3,195.00 to $4,201.00 | Range 34 | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum age of 18.

  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to work occasional night and weekend shifts to meet the needs of the campus and program partners.

  • Ability to obtain Department of Energy clearance for building access.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year of prior custodial experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact effectively, both orally and in writing, with individuals of varying levels of responsibility and experience.
