In 2017, over half the population in Sub-Saharan Africa had no bank account. That's for good reason-the fees are too high, the closest branch can be miles away, and nobody takes cards. Without access to financial institutions, people are forced to keep their savings under the mattress. Small business owners rely on lenders who charge extortionate rates. Parents spend hours waiting in line to pay school fees in cash.

We're solving this by building financial services that just work: no account fees, instantly available, and accepted everywhere. In places where electricity, water and roads don't always work, you can still send money with Wave. In 2017, we launched a mobile app in Senegal for cash deposit, withdrawal, and peer-to-peer and business payments. Now, we have millions of users across 9 countries and are growing fast.

How you'll help us achieve it

Do you have a proven track record of defining and implementing marketing strategies that drive business growth? Are you a strategic thinker with a data-driven mindset and a passion for developing and executing marketing campaigns? If so, we want to hear from you!

We’re hiring a Marketing Manager to oversee Above-the-Line (ATL) and Below-the-Line (BTL) activities, coordinate our marketing strategies and campaigns, and ensure they align with our overall business objectives and goals. You will play a key role in driving user growth and engagement through effective ATL and BTL marketing tactics.

In this role, you'll:

• Develop and implement ATL and BTL marketing strategies that align with Wave's growth objectives.
• Plan, execute, and oversee all ATL activities (TV, radio, and print), and all BTL activities (events, promotions, and on-ground activations).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders across the company to deliver impactful marketing campaigns that drive user acquisition and brand awareness.
• Manage relationships with external agencies and partners to ensure the successful execution of marketing activities.
• Monitor and analyze the performance of marketing campaigns, using data to make informed decisions and optimize strategies.
• Provide regular reports on the effectiveness of ATL and BTL activities, including insights and recommendations for improvement.
• Manage, build, and mentor a high-performing team to execute on key initiatives and achieve business goals. 

Key details

• The position is based in Niamey.
• You must have work authorization in Niger.
• This is a permanent position.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or master's degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field.
• 6+ years of relevant work experience in marketing.  
• An all-rounded KPI-driven marketer having managed ATL and BTL campaigns and brand building events with proven commercial results. 
• Excellent project management skills, able to orchestrate different workstreams within sizeable complex campaigns under tight deadlines. 
• Good analytical skills and ability to distill insights and make data-driven decisions.
• Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work effectively across the company. 
• Experience working with external agencies on both online and offline campaigns.
• Strong people leadership skills accompanied by an engaging personality that can inspire, mentor, and develop a young team.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Fluent in French, English, and one of the local languages.
