About the Role
We are seeking a California-licensed Psychiatrist to serve as a Collaborating Physician for Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs).
This is a fully remote, non-patient-facing position. The collaborating physician will not be required to maintain a patient caseload, conduct patient appointments, or provide direct patient care.
The primary responsibility is to provide clinical collaboration, consultation, and oversight to assigned PMHNPs in accordance with applicable California requirements and established collaborative practice agreements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the designated collaborating physician for assigned PMHNPs.
- Meet virtually with assigned providers individually or in groups of up to four nurse practitioners, approximately 1-2 times per month.
- Provide clinical guidance and consultation on general psychiatric matters.
- Review and respond to clinical questions and escalations as needed.
- Conduct timely chart reviews in accordance with established collaborative agreements and applicable requirements.
- Participate in case discussions, medication management consultations, and prescription-related questions when appropriate.
- Fulfill responsibilities outlined in collaborative practice agreements, including scheduled meetings, case reviews, and clinical consultations.
- Provide professional guidance, mentorship, and constructive feedback to assigned PMHNPs.
- Support clinical quality, patient safety, and compliance with applicable professional standards.
- Maintain appropriate documentation of collaborative activities when required.
Established Clinical Support
WellPsyche has dedicated clinical leads and supervising physicians available daily to address routine clinical questions and day-to-day issues.
This existing support structure helps minimize unnecessary interruptions and allows collaborating physicians to focus on their scheduled collaborative responsibilities and consultations requiring their involvement.
About You
We are seeking a knowledgeable, dependable Psychiatrist who values clinical collaboration, professional mentorship, and high-quality mental healthcare.
Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted California medical license (MD or DO).
- Board-certified or board-eligible in Psychiatry.
- Minimum of one year of experience practicing as a Psychiatrist; two or more years of mental health experience preferred.
- Experience working with adult and/or child and adolescent populations.
- Strong background in psychiatric medication management and treatment planning.
- Valid DEA registration, as applicable.
- Clinical supervisory, collaborative, or mentorship experience preferred.
- Familiarity with California NP collaboration and standardized procedure requirements.
- Strong clinical judgment and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to professional and ethical standards.
- Comfortable conducting virtual meetings, consultations, and chart reviews.
- Experience in telehealth or telepsychiatry preferred.
