Accounts Payable Specialist

Vancouver, BC | Head Office

Are you an experienced Accounts Payable professional who thrives on solving problems, building strong relationships, and bringing structure to a fast-moving environment?

We’re looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our Accounting team and take ownership of full-cycle accounts payable activities across Wesgroup Contracting Ltd. and related operating entities.

This role goes beyond transaction processing. You’ll be a trusted resource for our teams and vendors, helping resolve complex issues, strengthen processes, and ensure payments and accounts are managed accurately and efficiently.

Working closely with our Accounting and Construction teams, you’ll have the opportunity to bring your expertise, initiative, and problem-solving skills to a collaborative environment where attention to detail and strong relationships matter.

ABOUT WESGROUP

At Wesgroup, we're more than a real estate company. We build vibrant communities where people live, work, and connect.

Founded in British Columbia over 70 years ago, Wesgroup has grown into one of Western Canada's largest private real estate companies, with a portfolio spanning residential, commercial, industrial, and mixed-use properties. With over 4 million square feet of owned and managed assets and a strong development pipeline, we continue to shape communities across Metro Vancouver.

Our success is built on accountability, adaptability, strong relationships, and treating others according to the Golden Rule, while empowering our employees to do meaningful work and grow their careers.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Full-Cycle Accounts Payable

Own full-cycle accounts payable activities, including reviewing and processing invoices, payment requests, adjustments, and related transactions across multiple entities and projects.

Coordinate payment runs, manual payments, PAD transactions, and other payment activities, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Maintain organized, accurate, and audit-ready documentation in support of strong internal controls.

Vendor Management & Issue Resolution

Manage vendor onboarding and account maintenance, including compliance verification and required documentation.

Serve as a key point of contact for vendors, building strong working relationships and resolving payment and account inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

Perform vendor statement reconciliations and investigate complex invoice, payment, and account discrepancies through to resolution.

Cross-Functional Partnership

Partner closely with Project Managers, Project Coordinators, Construction Accounting, Preconstruction, Estimating, and other internal teams to keep accounts payable activities moving efficiently.

Build strong relationships across the business to support timely approvals, resolve issues, and ensure AP processes run smoothly.

Process Improvement & Team Support

Identify opportunities to streamline AP processes, strengthen controls, and improve overall efficiency and service delivery.

Share your expertise by providing procedural guidance and support to team members and assisting with onboarding and training when needed.

WHAT YOU BRING

3 to 5 years of progressive accounts payable or accounting experience, with hands-on responsibility for full-cycle AP.

Post-secondary education in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Business Administration, or a related discipline.

Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes, vendor management, reconciliations, and internal controls.

Demonstrated experience investigating and resolving complex invoice, payment, and vendor account discrepancies.

Experience supporting multiple entities, cost centres, or projects in a deadline-driven environment.

Proficiency with accounting and ERP systems, with Yardi experience considered an asset.

Strong Microsoft Excel skills, particularly for reconciliation, analysis, and reporting.

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to effectively prioritize competing deadlines.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with confidence working across different teams and with external vendors.

A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

A high level of accuracy, accountability, discretion, and attention to detail.

Experience in construction would be an asset.
