Coordinate, research and draft executive communications for the Vice-Chancellor and Chancellor across key engagements and audiences.

The Opportunity

You will research, draft and edit high-quality communications for the Vice-Chancellor and Chancellor. Your work will span briefing notes, speeches, speaking notes, opinion articles, social media posts and other communications for diverse internal and external audiences.

You will prepare high-level briefs and background papers for engagements with government, industry, media and community stakeholders. Working across the University, you will source and verify information, align content with strategic priorities and coordinate review processes to meet important deadlines.

You will monitor developments in higher education, public policy and the media to support relevant and responsive communications. You will also help improve communication processes and systems within Strategic Communications while handling sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Deliver clear, persuasive and professionally presented executive communications.
  • Produce accurate briefs and background papers for significant engagements.
  • Coordinate content inputs, reviews and approvals within tight timeframes.
  • Build effective relationships across the University to source and verify content.
  • Use sector and media insights to inform timely and relevant communications.

About You

  • A relevant degree in communications, journalism or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Experience in speechwriting, brief preparation or communications within a complex organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively across formats and audiences.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, including the ability to synthesise complex information quickly and accurately.
  • Excellent organisational and stakeholder engagement skills, supported by discretion, diplomacy and sound judgement.
