Create your best future and join Westpac as a Product Owner, Migration Planning & Customer Selection

  • Help solve complex problems and turn data and insight into meaningful customer and business outcomes.
  • Join our Migration Planning & Customer Selection squad and bring your curiosity, fresh thinking and ideas.
  • Full-time permanent opportunity, Hybrid 3 days onsite & 2 remotely

What’s the role?

We’re looking for a Product Owner to join our Migration Planning & Customer Selection squad, helping the team navigate complex problems, make sense of data and turn technical challenges into clear, tangible outcomes.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys getting into the detail while always asking, “so what does this mean?” You’ll connect data, customer and delivery insights to help the squad determine where to focus and how to deliver the greatest value.

You’ll own squad outcomes and the backlog, leading discovery and making informed decisions across value, effort and risk. Working across business, technology, risk and delivery, you’ll help cut through ambiguity and keep the squad focused on a clear “why.”

You’ll also:

  • Use data, evidence and customer insights to shape priorities and inform decisions.
  • Translate technical complexity into meaningful business and customer impacts.
  • Own and prioritise a healthy, value-focused backlog, balancing features, outcomes, effort and risk.
  • Partner across business, technology, risk and delivery to solve problems, manage dependencies and keep work moving.
  • Look for smarter ways of working, including opportunities to use AI, automation and digital tools to support discovery and decision-making.

What do I need?

For us, mindset and team fit are every bit as important as experience. You may already be an experienced Product Owner, or you might be earlier in your product career and ready to step into greater complexity. We’re less focused on years of experience and more interested in how you think, how you approach problems and what you bring to the team.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, getting into the detail and tackling difficult or legacy problems. You’ll be comfortable discussing technical and data matters while also being able to step back and translate the detail into what it means in practical terms for our customers and the business.

You’ll bring:

  • A positive, solutions-focused mindset, with curiosity and energy for tackling complex and ambiguous problems.
  • Confidence working with data and technical concepts, asking the right questions and making sense of the detail.
  • Strong critical thinking and sound judgement, using evidence to prioritise features, value and outcomes.
  • The ability to collaborate and communicate effectively across technical and business stakeholders.
  • A grounding in Product Ownership and Agile ways of working, with openness to fresh ideas, different perspectives and continued learning.

You don’t need to arrive knowing every answer. What matters is your willingness to get curious, explore the problem and work with others to find a way forward. If you enjoy turning complexity into clarity and want a hands-on role where you can bring fresh thinking to difficult problems, we’d love to hear from you.

Why join us?

We’re obsessed with becoming our customers' #1 banking partner for life and we’re looking for people who are passionate about helping us achieve that goal. In return, we’re committed to making Westpac the best place to work in the country. Here are just a few of the ways we’re already doing that:

  • Special offers on banking products and discounts from top brands, including generous employee-only mortgage rates!
  • Flexible work arrangements to help you achieve a greater work/life balance, and a variety of leave options including Culture, Lifestyle and Wellbeing leave.
  • Tailored learning and development opportunities to help your grow your career within the bank.
  • Lots of opportunities to ‘give back’ to the Community by getting involved in our many volunteering initiatives.
