Primary Objective of Position: Help lead Newmar’s accounting operations and financial reporting by ensuring accurate results, strong controls, well-managed manufacturing and inventory accounting, and continued support and development of the accounting team.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and provide accurate, timely financial statements and management reporting in line with U.S. GAAP and corporate policies.
- Guide core accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, payroll accounting, intercompany activity, and account reconciliations.
- Lead internal controls and SOX compliance for the accounting function, including documentation, testing support, issue follow-up, and efforts to help protect company assets.
- Oversee product costing, standard costs, inventory valuation, cycle-count controls, reserves, and manufacturing margin analysis.
- Serve as Newmar’s main accounting contact for internal and external audits, coordinating schedules, documentation, responses, and corrective actions.
- Oversee bank reconciliations, cash controls, working-capital reporting, and accounting support for treasury, tax, and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with FP&A, Operations, Supply Chain, IT, and corporate finance on budgeting, forecasting, capital decisions, financial analysis, and business performance improvement.
- Improve accounting processes, documentation, automation, and financial systems, including ERP and reporting enhancements.
- Lead, coach, and support the accounting team by setting clear expectations, building capability, encouraging cross-training, and providing responsive service to business partners.
- Provide timely financial insight, analysis, and recommendations to the CFO and senior leadership; perform other related duties as assigned.
Key Attributes
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, SOX compliance, cost accounting, and inventory accounting.
- Hands-on leadership style with sound judgment, attention to detail, and a commitment to accuracy and accountability.
- Ability to translate financial information into clear business insights for finance and non-finance leaders.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify issues, explain financial impacts, and recommend practical solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to develop talent, improve processes, and work effectively with leaders across the business.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA or CMA preferred.
- Significant progressive accounting leadership experience, preferably in a complex manufacturing environment.
- Experience leading financial close processes and coordinating internal and external audits.
- Proficiency with ERP, financial reporting systems, and Microsoft Office applications; Infor XA experience is a plus.
- Prior experience leading and developing an accounting team required.
