We are looking for an Experienced Backend Software Engineer - Cloud & DevOps with 5-8 years of experience to join our cross-functional DevOps team.

In this role, you will design, implement, test, and maintain backend features end-to-end, contributing to reliable, scalable, and cost-effective solutions. You will work with modern technologies including Java, AWS, Kubernetes, microservices, and CI/CD.

You will work independently on complex tasks, contribute to technical decisions, and take ownership of team-level outcomes. You will also support the growth of less experienced engineers through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and good engineering practices.

Here’s what you’ll focus on

• Design, implement, test, and maintain backend features end-to-end.

• Translate business and technical requirements into robust, scalable, and cost-effective solutions.

• Work independently on most tasks and seek support when appropriate.

• Ensure code quality, reliability, performance, security, and maintainability.

• Design and develop Java-based microservices and backend solutions.

• Build, deploy, and administer solutions running on Kubernetes.

• Work with AWS cloud services to develop and operate scalable solutions.

• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines used in production.

• Apply JUnit and Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices.

• Participate in and lead code reviews and technical discussions.

• Take responsibility for the complete DevOps lifecycle, from development and testing through deployment, monitoring, and production support.

• Identify technical risks, improvement opportunities, and areas for innovation.

• Troubleshoot production issues and contribute to root-cause analysis and long-term improvements.

• Mentor and support junior and less experienced engineers through daily collaboration and knowledge sharing.

• Share engineering best practices and lessons learned within the team.

• Take ownership of team-level outcomes, not only individual tasks.

• Contribute to continuously improving the team's engineering and delivery capabilities.

About the Team and Context

You will be part of a cross-functional DevOps team with end-to-end responsibility for the software it develops and operates.

The team works collaboratively across development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and production support. You will work closely with developers, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, architects, customers, and other stakeholders to deliver reliable solutions and continuously improve the way we work.

As an experienced engineer, you will have the opportunity to influence technical discussions, contribute to engineering practices, and support the development of less experienced team members.

We Believe That You Bring

You are an experienced backend engineer who enjoys solving technical problems, taking ownership, and building reliable software. You are comfortable working independently while knowing when to involve others, and you enjoy sharing your experience with the wider team.

Technical Skills

• 5-8 years of professional experience in backend software development or a related software engineering role.

• Strong hands-on experience with Java 11 or higher.

• Experience with AWS, preferably including:

  • Lambda

  • EC2

  • ECS

  • SNS / SQS

  • IAM

  • DynamoDB

  • CloudFormation

  • CloudWatch

  • API Gateway and REST APIs

• Strong experience with Kubernetes, including building, deploying, and administering solutions.

• Experience with microservices architecture.

• Good understanding and practical experience with JUnit and TDD.

• Strong experience with Git.

• Experience with CI/CD in production environments.

• Experience taking responsibility across the complete DevOps lifecycle.

• Experience with certificate lifecycle management.

• Experience working with Agile methodologies, preferably Scrum and/or SAFe.

• Good understanding of software quality, security, performance, and maintainability.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
