Wise is a British financial technology company founded in 2011 by two Estonians who were frustrated by the cost of moving money between pounds and euros. It built a network of local bank accounts in each market so that most transfers never cross a border, publishes the mid-market exchange rate with an explicit fee, and has extended the model into multi-currency accounts, debit cards, business payments and an infrastructure product that banks resell. The company listed directly on the London Stock Exchange in 2021 and moves tens of billions of pounds for millions of personal and business customers each quarter.

Wise is a global technology company, building the best way to move and manage the world’s money.

Min fees. Max ease. Full speed.

Whether people and businesses are sending money to another country, spending abroad, or making and receiving international payments, Wise is on a mission to make their lives easier and save them money.

As part of our team, you will be helping us create an entirely new network for the world's money.

For everyone, everywhere.

More about our mission and what we offer.

A bit about the role

We are looking for an Internal Audit Senior Manager to join our growing APAC Internal Audit team.

Your main responsibilities will include overseeing and supporting the delivery of internal audits within the APAC portfolio at Wise, and collaborating internally and externally with partnering firms. You will make recommendations to improve governance, risk management and internal controls. You will also play a vital role in performing audit plan development and risk assessment activities. You will be responsible for planning, assigning, and supervising the operational activities of the team as well as completing your own tasks.

The role presents a great opportunity to focus on the development and delivery of audit engagements in a fast-paced environment, focussed on data driven audit techniques and continuous monitoring. Relevant experience working in assurance, risk or control roles and deploying technology-enabled assurance is key to driving the internal audit agenda.

Your mission

  • Support the implementation and operation of the internal audit assurance framework, including development of continuous monitoring and automated audit routines.
  • Support development of the annual audit plan, including the audit universe, risk assessment processes and budgeting processes.
  • Deliver audits per the audit plan to ensure timely and relevant audit outcomes.
  • Build and support a strong and self-sufficient internal audit team.
  • Monitor the implementation of Internal Audit recommendations by the teams and measure the effectiveness of the improvements.
  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders, internally and externally.
  • The role is Singapore-based, but many of our teams are located across different office locations. You will travel as needed to meet your objectives.

A bit about you

Skills:

  • You have proven experience working in internal/external audit, risk, control or assurance and you want to continuously improve how to get the job done.
  • You have worked in technology, fintech or broader financial services industries.
  • You have overseen planning, staffing, delivery and reporting of multiple audit engagements.
  • You are able to work independently, you assume responsibility and you make your own judgment.
  • You are prepared to take ownership over complex new areas and solve problems with no or very limited guidance.
  • You have very strong coordination skills and you are able to hold teams accountable for meeting deadlines and delivering high quality outputs.
  • You demonstrate attention to detail but can summarise key messages succinctly, verbally and in writing, adjusting your style and level of information based on the target audience.
  • You’re curious and collaborative - you’re great at asking insightful questions to understand the real issues and deliver the right outcomes.
  • You are passionate about driving change, making improvements and helping stakeholders.
  • You are not afraid to make decisions, work autonomously, and take initiative.
  • You’re a strong relationship builder across all levels of the business and externally.

Experience:

  • Relevant experience in internal/external auditing, risk, control or assurance roles. Board and or Risk Committee reporting experiences is a plus.
  • You have managed collaboration projects involving internal and external teams.
  • You have worked in a multinational environment across different cultures and countries.
  • Professional qualification: CPA/CA/ACCA/CIA/CISA/CAMS (optional)
  • Preferably, you have subject matter expertise in areas such as Financial Crime, Risk and Regulatory Compliance, Capital Markets, Safeguarding, Outsourcing, Operations, Finance/Regulatory Reporting, and Technology.
  • You have worked in regulated environments (preferably with APAC landscape and regulatory exposures), Fintech or Financial Services (Payment Institutions/Banks).

For everyone, everywhere. We're people building money without borders - without judgement or prejudice, too. We believe teams are strongest when they are diverse, equitable and inclusive.

We're proud to have a truly international team, and we celebrate our differences.

Inclusive teams help us live our values and make sure every Wiser feels respected, empowered to contribute towards our mission and able to progress in their careers.
