We are looking for an experienced Java Technical Lead with strong hands-on expertise in Java backend development, microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures. The role is suited for a senior technology professional who enjoys leading from the front, technically driving design decisions, solving complex engineering problems, guiding development teams, and remaining hands-on with critical technical initiatives. You will have the opportunity to work on high-scale, distributed, and mission-critical applications while contributing to system design, architecture discussions, engineering standards, and technical strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the technical design and development of scalable backend applications using Java 11/17+
- Provide technical direction to engineering teams while remaining hands-on with critical development activities.
- Design and develop microservices and distributed systems using Spring Boot.
- Drive the adoption of event-driven architecture using Apache Kafka
- Design and optimize Kafka producers, consumers, topics, partitions, consumer groups, replication, and message-processing workflows.
- Own and contribute to HLD and LLD discussions for complex technical solutions.
- Evaluate technical approaches and make appropriate design and technology decisions.
- Develop scalable RESTful APIs and backend services
- Drive improvements in application performance, scalability, availability, and resiliency.
- Conduct design and code reviews and establish engineering best practices.
- Troubleshoot complex technical and production issues and drive RCA and resolution
- Work closely with architects, product managers, business stakeholders, and engineering teams.
- Mentor senior developers and help raise the overall technical capability of the team.
- Contribute to CI/CD, DevOps, automation, observability, and engineering productivity initiatives.
- Identify technical risks and proactively address scalability, performance, and maintainability challenges.
Requirements:
- Strong hands-on Java engineering expertise combined with technical leadership.

- Exposure to investment banking/capital markets is a must.
- Proven experience in building and setting up applications/platforms from scratch.
Java and Spring Boot
- Strong hands-on experience with Java 11/17+
- Strong understanding of Collections, Multithreading and Concurrency, JVM, Memory Management, Design Patterns, OOP, and SOLID principles.
- Strong experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA/Hibernate
Microservices & Distributed Systems:
- Strong experience designing and developing microservices-based applications.
- Good understanding of distributed systems, service-to-service communication, resilience, fault tolerance, caching, and API performance.
- Experience building highly scalable and highly available backend systems.
Apache Kafka:
- Strong hands-on experience with Apache Kafka.
- Good understanding of producers, consumers, consumer groups, partitions, replication, message ordering, delivery semantics, and Kafka Streams.
- Experience designing event-driven solutions for high-throughput applications.
Database:
- Strong experience with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, or SQL Server.
- Good understanding of database design, indexing, query optimization, transactions, and performance tuning.
Cloud & DevOps:
- Exposure to AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Good understanding of CI/CD, Git, Maven/Gradle, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
