As a Crane and Rigging Coordinator, you will provide hands-on construction leadership, ensuring lifting operations are properly planned, resourced, coordinated, and executed in alignment with project schedules, safety requirements, quality expectations, and construction priorities.

Working directly at the project site, you will coordinate forepersons, rigging personnel, crane operations, and supporting construction disciplines while maintaining close alignment with construction management, engineering, HSE, logistics, and project teams. Your leadership will directly influence lifting safety, workforce productivity, equipment utilization, schedule performance, and successful project delivery.

Purpose of the role

The Crane and Rigging Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and overseeing crane and rigging activities within assigned areas of an industrial construction project. This role provides field leadership for scheduling, workface planning, workforce allocation, lifting activities, productivity, HSE performance, apprentice development, cost awareness, and quality execution.

You will help translate construction priorities into executable field plans, coordinate crane and rigging resources, and ensure work crews have the direction and support required to perform safely and productively. Through strong field leadership and collaboration, you will help maintain efficient construction flow while supporting the safe movement, lifting, positioning, and installation of equipment and materials.

You will be responsible for

  • Coordinating crane, rigging, lifting, and related field activities to support construction schedules and project priorities.
  • Providing day-to-day work direction to forepersons and trade personnel within assigned areas.
  • Planning and coordinating workforce requirements to maintain appropriate manpower levels for scheduled construction activities.
  • Supporting workface planning and ensuring crews have the information, equipment, materials, and access required for safe and productive execution.
  • Coordinating crane utilization and rigging activities with construction management, field engineering, logistics, HSE, and other construction disciplines.
  • Supporting lift planning, pre-lift coordination, constructability reviews, and field readiness activities in accordance with project requirements.
  • Monitoring manpower utilization, craft productivity, equipment utilization, and work progress against established project objectives.
  • Promoting a proactive HSE culture and reinforcing safe lifting and rigging practices throughout field operations.
  • Coordinating complex lifting activities to minimize conflicts between cranes, crews, equipment movements, and adjacent construction operations.
  • Providing technical guidance regarding rigging methods, lifting practices, field execution, and work sequencing.
  • Monitoring completed work for quality, accuracy, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Identifying field constraints, equipment conflicts, productivity barriers, and execution risks and coordinating practical solutions.
  • Collaborating with construction leadership to prioritize crane resources and support multiple construction work fronts.
  • Supporting apprentice training, craft development, and consistent application of approved work methods.
  • Monitoring construction costs, workforce efficiency, and productivity trends within the assigned scope.
  • Applying company labor relations policies and supporting a respectful, productive, and collaborative field environment.
  • Communicating progress, constraints, resource requirements, and execution priorities to construction management and relevant project stakeholders.
  • Supporting continuous improvement in crane utilization, rigging practices, work planning, safety performance, and field productivity.
