The University of South Florida College of Nursing is seeking an outstanding research scientist for the position of

Dorothy Benjamin Term Scientist in Memory Disorders. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the research, teaching, and service missions of the College and provide leadership in advancing and expanding memory disorders research within the College of Nursing.

We are seeking a collegial, collaborative, and grant-funded faculty member with research interests focused on developing innovative solutions to address health conditions associated with neurocognitive disorders, particularly those affecting memory and other neurodegenerative conditions.

The successful candidate will maintain a high level of externally funded research, publish regularly in peer-reviewed journals, disseminate research findings, and promote the translation of research into practice in collaboration with clinical and community partners. The incumbent will mentor junior faculty, clinician-scientists, and students; participate in the development and submission of interdisciplinary grant applications for centers and training programs; and contribute service to the College, University, and profession.

The candidate may also teach at the graduate and/or undergraduate levels and will be expected to promote an environment of excellence and collaboration among faculty, staff, trainees, and students.

This is an in-person position and requires on-site presence at the College of Nursing.

Maintain an active, externally funded program of research focused on memory disorders and/or related neurocognitive or neurodegenerative conditions.

Secure and maintain competitive extramural research funding.

Publish research findings in high-quality, peer-reviewed scientific journals and disseminate findings through

appropriate professional and scientific venues.

Promote the translation of research findings into practice through collaboration with clinical, academic, and community partners.

Mentor junior faculty, clinician-scientists, postdoctoral scholars, and students in research and scholarly development.

Participate in the development and submission of interdisciplinary grant applications, including proposals for research centers and training programs.

Collaborate with faculty and researchers across the College, USF Health, the University, and external organizations.

Contribute to the teaching mission of the College at the graduate and/or undergraduate level, as appropriate.

Participate in service to the College, University, profession, and scientific community.

Contribute to the continued growth and visibility of memory disorders research within the College of Nursing.

Minimum Qualifications:

Earned PhD in a health science fieldfrom an accredited institution with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant or Associate or Professor.

Additional Minimum Qualifications:

If a nurse, must be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Florida.

Demonstrated record of published research in scientific journals and recognition as a national and/or international authority in the candidate’s field of specialization.

Demonstrated evidence of obtaining competitive federal extramural funding (e.g., NIH, NSF, ED).

Demonstrated record of research relevant to memory disorders and/or related fields.

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong record of collaborative extramural research, education, scholarship, and professional service commensurate with appointment as Professor with tenure in an area of specialization represented within the College.

Demonstrated record of research excellence, including successful sponsored research proposals and publications in high-quality, relevant journals.

Ongoing record of scholarly publications and an active, fundable research agenda focused on memory disorders and/or related research.

Demonstrated research project management experience, including budget development and oversight, personnel supervision, and management of funded research projects.

Demonstrated ability to represent and advocate for the College of Nursing within the University and with external partners.

Demonstrated ability to mentor early-career faculty, particularly in supporting scholarly development and successful progression toward promotion and tenure.

PhD in Nursing or a related field.
