Xanadu (Xanadu Quantum Technologies) is a Canadian quantum computing company headquartered in Toronto that builds photonic quantum computers, which use particles of light to process information. Founded in 2016 by Christian Weedbrook, it demonstrated quantum computational advantage with its Borealis machine and develops PennyLane, an open-source software library for quantum programming and quantum machine learning. It is backed by venture investors and Canadian government programs, and hires photonics and electrical engineers, quantum architecture scientists, data scientists and lab technicians, mostly in Toronto.
