Role Overview:
As a Computational Bioscience Expert, you will sit at the center of our R&D efforts, bridging the gap between raw biological data and clinical application. You will spend your day developing robust algorithms, processing high-dimensional medical imaging data, and refining neural network architectures to improve diagnostic accuracy. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams of data scientists, bioinformaticians, and product engineers to translate complex scientific requirements into scalable software solutions. Your work will directly influence the precision of our diagnostic tools, ultimately improving patient outcomes and accelerating the pace of medical discovery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect and implement Python-based pipelines to process and analyze large-scale genomic and proteomic datasets for internal research initiatives.
- Develop and optimize deep learning models for medical imaging tasks, ensuring high sensitivity and specificity for clinical diagnostic applications.
- Integrate neural network frameworks into existing computational workflows to automate feature extraction and pattern recognition in biological samples.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements for new bioscience features, ensuring all solutions meet rigorous scientific and regulatory standards.
- Conduct thorough performance evaluations of computational models to identify bottlenecks and implement optimizations that enhance processing speed and accuracy.
Required Skillset:
- Demonstrated proficiency in Python for scientific computing, with deep experience in libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, and Scikit-learn.
- Proven ability to design and deploy neural networks using frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow, specifically applied to image segmentation or classification tasks.
- Strong foundation in bioinformatics principles, including the ability to handle and interpret complex biological data structures and formats.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and cross-functional team members.
- A Master's or PhD degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
- Ability to thrive in a fully remote environment, maintaining high levels of self-discipline, proactive communication, and project ownership across distributed teams.
- 2 - 5 years of professional experience in computational biology or a related research-intensive technical role.
