Zeiss is a German optics and optoelectronics group founded in Jena in 1846 that is owned by a foundation rather than by shareholders, which frees it to invest on very long horizons. Its most strategically important business supplies the optical systems inside extreme ultraviolet lithography machines, without which leading-edge semiconductor manufacturing would not be possible, and it also makes surgical and diagnostic ophthalmic equipment, spectacle lenses, industrial measurement systems, microscopes and camera optics. Headquartered in Oberkochen with a large site in Jena, the group employs tens of thousands of people and spends an unusually high share of revenue on research.

Enabling smaller, more powerful and more energy-efficient microchips.

Where tomorrow is created.

Around 80% of all microchips worldwide are manufactured using ZEISS technologies. As the core component of virtually every electronically controlled system, they have become indispensable in our daily lives - whether in smartphones, smart homes or smart factories. ZEISS is a global technology leader in semiconductor manufacturing equipment. With highly precise lithography optics, photomask systems and process control solutions, ZEISS enables the production of ever smaller, more powerful and more energy-efficient microchips, playing a key role in shaping the era of micro- and nanoelectronics through continuous innovation.
