IT Support and Network Engineer

About the role:

We are looking for an experienced IT Support & Network Engineer to join our IT team. This is a role that blends hands-on network engineering, centered on our Cisco Meraki environment, with day-to-day IT helpdesk support for employees across our offices and operational hubs. You will design, deploy, and maintain the network infrastructure that keeps Zum running, while also serving as a friendly, responsive point of contact for employee technology needs across Google Workspace, macOS, and Windows environments.

This role reports to the Head of IT and Security and is ideal for someone who enjoys owning infrastructure end to end but still likes helping people solve problems face to face.

This is an in-office position, based out of our Redwood City Headquarters. Domestic travel to field locations is expected as needed.

What You'll Do:

• Network engineering: Design, deploy, configure, and maintain Cisco Meraki networks (MX security appliances, MS switches, MR access points) across corporate offices and field locations
• Monitoring & troubleshooting: Monitor network health and performance via the Meraki dashboard; proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve connectivity, performance, and capacity issues
• Security & segmentation: Manage firewall rules, VLANs, SD-WAN/VPN configurations, SSIDs, and network segmentation in line with security best practices
• Site buildouts: Lead network buildouts for new office and hub openings, including vendor coordination, circuit provisioning, cabling, and cutovers
• Helpdesk support: Provide tier 1-3 helpdesk support to employees: triage, resolve, and document tickets covering hardware, software, accounts, and connectivity
• Google Workspace: Administer Google Workspace: user lifecycle (onboarding/offboarding), groups, shared drives, security settings, and troubleshooting
• Endpoint management: Image, deploy, and support macOS and Windows endpoints, including MDM enrollment, patching, and asset management
• Office technology: Support AV/conference room systems, printers, and other office technology
• Documentation: Create and maintain documentation: network diagrams, runbooks, knowledge base articles, and standard operating procedures
• Security partnership: Partner with the Security function on incident response, vulnerability remediation, and security tooling rollouts

What You'll Bring:

• 5+ years of experience in network engineering and IT support roles
• Strong hands-on experience with Cisco Meraki (MX, MS, MR) - deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting at scale. Additional Aruba infrastructure experience is a benefit.
• Solid networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, wireless, VPN, and firewalls
• Proven IT helpdesk/service desk experience with excellent customer service instincts and communication skills
• Working knowledge of Google Workspace administration
• Proficiency supporting both macOS and Windows operating systems
• Experience with ticketing systems and disciplined ticket hygiene
• Ability to lift and rack network equipment and travel to offices and hubs for buildouts or escalations.

Nice to Have:

• Cisco Meraki certifications (CMNA/CMNO) or Cisco CCNA
• Experience with MDM platforms (e.g., Hexnode, Iru, Intune)
• Familiarity with identity and SSO platforms
• Scripting experience (Bash, PowerShell, or Python) for automation
• Experience supporting a fast-growing, multi-site company

The targeted base salary range for this role is listed in the compensation section below. Actual salary may be above or below this range based on factors such as location, skills, and relevant experience. In addition, this position may include additional compensation in the form of equity or commissions. The targeted pay range for this role in CA, USA is: $135,000 - $155,000 plus stock options.
