Overview
ICEYE is a Finnish space company founded in 2014 that built the first synthetic aperture radar satellite small enough to be launched in large numbers, and it now operates the world's largest constellation of them. Because radar imaging works through cloud and at night, the constellation can observe a location reliably regardless of weather, which makes it valuable for flood monitoring, insurance loss assessment, maritime surveillance and defence intelligence. Headquartered in Espoo, the company both sells data and builds satellites for government customers who want their own sovereign radar capability.
