Overview

Chris Monroe and Jungsang Kim created IonQ in 2015 after over 25 years of research. Their preliminary investment amounted to $2 million from the University of Maryland and Duke University, which enabled them to develop trapped ion quantum computers. Within a few years, they constructed two of the most accurate quantum computers in the world, garnering additional funding from Amazon Web Services, Google's GV, and NEA.
