LY Corporation is a Japanese internet company created in 2023 by merging Z Holdings, Yahoo Japan and LINE into a single entity, tracing its legal lineage back to Yahoo Japan's founding in 1996. It runs two of the country's most used digital services: the LINE messaging app, which functions as everyday communication infrastructure for most of Japan, and the Yahoo JAPAN portal, still one of the highest-traffic websites in the country. Around them sit commerce, advertising, news, manga, payments through the affiliated PayPay and a growing set of AI features, and the company is majority controlled by SoftBank and Naver.
