Overview
Nintendo is a Japanese video game company that designs and sells home and handheld game consoles, including the Nintendo Switch family, and develops game franchises such as Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda and Animal Crossing through its own studios and partners. Founded in 1889 as a maker of hanafuda playing cards, it also earns revenue from mobile games, character licensing, films and theme park attractions. Its American subsidiary, Nintendo of America, is based in Redmond, Washington. The company is headquartered in Kyoto, Japan.
