Overview
Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS) is the main passenger railway operator of the Netherlands, headquartered in Utrecht, running intercity and regional train services on the Dutch main rail network as well as station retail and the OV-fiets bike rental scheme. The state-owned company was formed in 1938, carries around a million passengers a day and, through subsidiaries, also operates stations, shops such as AH to go and Kiosk outlets, and rail services abroad. It hires conductors and train crew, sales staff for station shops in cities such as Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Breda and Alkmaar, OV-fiets drivers, electromechanical engineers, IT continuity managers and solution architects.
