Pinterest is an American visual discovery platform founded in 2010 where people save and organise images, products and ideas into themed boards. Unlike feed-based social networks it is built around planning future intent, so users arrive researching a kitchen renovation, an outfit or a holiday rather than to follow friends, which makes the audience unusually valuable to advertisers. Headquartered in San Francisco and listed on the New York Stock Exchange since 2019, the company earns nearly all of its revenue from advertising and has invested heavily in shoppable pins, visual search and AI-driven recommendations.
