Software AG is a Darmstadt company founded in 1969 and one of the oldest software firms in Germany. It built the Adabas database and Natural programming language that still run core systems at banks and insurers, and later added integration and internet of things platforms. The company was taken private by Silver Lake and sold parts of its portfolio to IBM.
