InCommon is hiring for Accompany Health, a US-based healthtech company on a mission to provide dignified, high quality care to patients with complex health needs. The company delivers primary, behavioral, and social care through a combination of at-home and virtual care, supported by 24/7 access to dedicated care teams. Powered by technology, evidence-based care models, and strong partnerships across the healthcare ecosystem, the company is focused on improving health outcomes and addressing long standing gaps in care.
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will own the design, build and production support of the backend services and APIs that power our care-delivery platform. Healthcare today is fragmented across many services; your work will unify them into a single, seamless patient experience.
You will define and scale core architecture for long-term reliability and take features end-to-end, from design through rollout. You will work closely with clinical, product and engineering teams, including colleagues in the US.
What you'll do:
- Design, build and maintain production-grade backend services and APIs in Java or Go.
- Define and scale core platform architecture for long-term reliability and performance.
- Own features end-to-end: write design docs, build, roll out, monitor and iterate.
- Support services in production, including on-call rotations and incident response.
- Integrate fragmented healthcare services and data sources into one coherent patient experience.
- Partner with clinical, product and engineering teams to turn requirements into well-scoped technical solutions.
- Shape engineering culture and help balance product velocity against tech debt.
What we're looking for:
- 4+ years of professional backend engineering experience; 5+ years preferred for this Senior role.
- Deep, hands-on expertise in Java, used as a primary language in your recent roles and projects.
- A strongly backend-focused career, with roughly 80% or more of your recent work on backend systems.
- Experience with distributed systems, systems at scale, real-time or high-volume data, or complex third-party integrations, beyond CRUD or maintenance-only work.
- Demonstrated end-to-end ownership: authoring design docs, leading rollouts, participating in on-call and handling production incidents.
- Strong written communication for async collaboration with US-based teams.
Strong Plus:
- Healthcare or relevant industry experience
